Many students are waiting to see the newest Disney film The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. The ASWC has pulled through once again, making it easy for them to enjoy the movie on opening day without paying full price. The Wild Wednesday activity for this week is being held Friday. ASWC is selling tickets to the movie at only two for $5. Theyve reserved a theater which holds 285 at the Gateway for the 8:45 traditional undergraduate college students, the movie events have stirred interest among the student body. Students can thank their student body government for making it possible to enjoy a night out on the town without emptying their wallets. According to Ray Bradford, ASWC vice president, this event was planned on-the-sp- ot, due to the success of the Harry Potter showing. These events provide a different setting for graduate students, students with families or those vho are older than the traditional student. This Wild Wednesday Narnia event also came as the ASWCs remedy to the stress that comes from tests and finals p.m. showing. Lark & Spur will perform at Westminster College in the Jewett Center on Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. The band will perform songs from its folk Christmas repertoire. Lark & Spurs CD begins with a soft traditional feel and works up to a melodic and enticing holiday spirit, bringing together established hits with new and unique songs, a unique blend of Celtic and French music. 'MaaMasRjgr Westminster will host the Student Jazz Ensemble concert Tuesday, Dec. 13, in the Vieve Gore Concert Hall. The performance will be led by local saxophonist sensation, Greg Floor. Floor is a Salt Lake native who returned home after studying jazz in Boston and receiving his master of music (jazz performance) from the New England Conservatory in 2002. His group, The Greg Floor Quintet has already released two CDs and is currently working on a third. er Westminsters Web site advertises that Floor will lead the students in a festive program of jazz standards and adventurous improvisation. The event begins at 8 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Lark &Spur is a local group with foundations as European street musicians. Jeff Whitley and Lori Decker began performing together in 1984 and have since added two more musicians to their group. The groups typical sound is a combination of jazz, folk, Celtic, and a bit of Gypsy swing. The concert is just the beginning of a series that is to be an experiment in exposing the community to local talents. The Ray Smith Quintet will perform 2006.
