After visiting Takashis sushi bar, I can teU you it is the best sushi in town. Takashis has been in business since last May and is located on Market Street in downtown Salt Lake City. The restaurant is owned by the head chef Takashi. Formerly, Takashi was the executive sushi chef at Shogun sushi across the street. However, Takashi used his entrepreneurial mind, and opened his own restaurant. As I entered the restaurant, I had a relaxed casual feel However, the restaurant still had class. The colors of the restaurant were a cool blue with an almost sea green. I asked for a bar seat because I hate to wait for the server to take my order. Surprisingly, I was able to grab a seat. I was impressed with how many seats they had at the bar. Directly above me was a large fish made of wire. This fish must have been 10 feet in length. The fish really helped with the feel that Takashi was trying to create in his restaurant I quickly ordered some sushi rolls from the chef Tommy Nguyen, who was one of the kindest sushi chefs I have personally encountered. Tommy quickly made my first roll, an Alta Roll. I will admit that the name was not very clever. However, the roll was amazing. Filled with spicy crab salad, fresh tuna and tobiko, it was my favorite. After the first roll, I ordered the Tigers RolL Fantastic is the only word that can describe this concoction of tiger shrimp tempura with crab salad, Kairware and avocado, topped with eel sauce and sesame. My last roll for the evening was a delicious Caribbean Roll. The Caribbean Roll is made of yellowtail, fresh mango, spicy sauce, scallops, shiso and wasabi tobiko. The fresh mango gave the roll a sweet kick that many 70s Fondue Christina D. Clark Staff Writer full-tim- The 70s are coming back in style and bringing fondue along for the ride. The Melting Pot is a very busy restaurant, so I would suggest making reservations at least two days in advance.
