Show 1 HE TORUM April 16, 2003 Women's Choir Graces Jewett with Songs, Both Naughty and Nice Addie Ryder Staff Writer The Westminster Womens Choir concluded its 2002-200- 3 season on Friday. The group of 17 women filled The Jewett Center with harmonies, family and friends. The choir, under the direction of Roberta Shimensky, entertained audiences from Centerville, Utah to Capitol Hill. The concert completed their 2003 Washington DC Tour. Dean of Students Carolyn Perkins had the opportunity to travel with the choir in Washington D.C. Before the performance started she described the women as fun, a little naughty, but mostly nice. The second set of the evening followed a pattern of poems set to music with the 2002-200- World Premier 3 season Friday. The program said these pieces, grew from a desire for an artistic collaboration of the part of conductor, composer, and poet; also the eagerness to give the Westminster Womens Choir the educational opportunity to explore, shape, and experience the process new creation. of this The Womens Choir presented their fun and naughty side during The Witches Trio adapted to music by Libby Larsen from Shakespeares MacBeth. The women filled the room music chanting, Double, double toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble. I shall hex you on the double. Shimensky said this years group was phenomenal. She said, They exceeded all expec- tations. They compare with any professional group.
