Show sports Hausmann Updates Us The first two months of this year offered a variety of Intramural activities. Two new programs geared toward the individual interested in dance fitness were added to the calendar: Aerobic Dance with instructor Karen Weaver; and Rhythmic Dance Workout with instructors Lisa Roll and Lynn Koshland. The aerobic dance class is still open to anyone interested in getting a fun and exhilarating workout. Volleyball had terrific participation with a total of six teams competing. Patricia Donahue was on campus March 3 a3 the Distinguished Resident for the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. Donahue lectured to nursing, history, art appreciation and sociology classes on such diverse subjects as nursing history, the dying process, ethical and social issues, alternative therapies, and nursing in connection with art and history. Donahue said, It is exciting to be involved with different courses. In addition to lecturing, Donahue presented two slide shows entitled, Slide Presentation on Nursing, the Finest Art. These were presented on March 10 and 11, as well as an evening presentation, Nursing, the Finest Art: An Illustrated History of Nursing, held March 12 which was open to the public and included a lecture by Donahue. Donahue is an assistant professor at the University of Iowa College of Nursing. She has a Ph.D. in social foundations of education with an emphasis in history and philosophy. She has practiced as a staff nurse in a variety of areas, ha3 taught history for the last ten years and has worked and written in the areas of oncology, terminal illness, patients rights and patient advocacy. Her most recent book, Nursing: The Finest Art, An Illustrated History, won two Book of the Year awards from the American Journal of Next, she said, We make a list of important people doing something with it. This list consists of nationally important people in nusring who have published, said Steffen. Availability in another consideration making the choice. According to Steffen, Donahue was chosen for her book, knowledge of ethical issues and ability to care. Steffen said, Her book is rare because of the art and she is reflective of what is happening' in nursing now. Steffen also said Donahue is a terrific lady. going next winter. To end the basketball season, the Intramural State Basketball Championship was held March 14 at the U. of U. and Westminster College. Our team did well in the overall standing considering the team was scratched up out of nowhere.
