A study by Utah Foundation, the research private organization, shows that the number of motor vehicles registered in Carbon County increased by 11 percent during the past decade. Last year a total of 11,707 motor vehicles were registered in Carbon County, compared with total registrations of 10,531 in 1960. Throughout the state, the total number of motor vehicles rose from 455,874 in 1960 to 664,104 in 1970, a gain of 208, 230, or 46 percent during the ten-ye- ar period. By 1970 the number had grown to 28,194, an increase of 733 percent during the ten-yeperiod. Small trucks (the type often used for recreational purposes) also more than doubled over the past ten years. In 1960 there were 47,774 trucks with a gross weight of 6,000 pounds or less registered in the state. In 1970 a total of 96,906 trucks of this type were registered in Utah.
