Show 2 Price, Utah Sun-Advocat- e. Carbon County Chamber 20, 1971 Thursday, May Huntington Speaks NOW Mike Kanderis NOW that a very successful Day has completed, we have Business-Educatio- been president n summarized the suggestions for the businessmen for improving what we believe could be an even more successful program next .year. All felt that April was a good month for having the educators visit the businesses in the community. Most felt that a two hour visit was about right although some preferred a longer time. Most felt that the evening banquet with spouses added to the affair although more privacy was recommended. One big suggestion for improving B-- E Day was more participation by both business and educators. Grand Junction has suc- cessfully held a B-- Day for the past nine years and our first attempt was no less a success here. We have received nothing but praise for the days program, not only from the business people involved but also the educators. Chamber Vice President, Dean McDonald, president of CEU is the man we thank and congratulate for what we hope will be an annual event. Lets plan NOW for a bigger and .better B-- E Day next year. Education has an exciting look at industry in April and on Tuesday, May 4, the Chamber E exciting look at On that day, we returned to visit of the educators and visited Mont Harmon Jr. High and Reeves Elementary Schools after first meeting at the School Board Offices for a brief exorientation. Detailed an had education. of classrooms and were programs provided. Chamber guests were furnished lunch with the students. It is not hard to recapture the excitement and enthusiasm we felt for the school programs, the planations special interest groups, the Headstart program, the special aids and services provided under Titles 1 and 3 of the 'Federal Aid to Education an Old Commerce project Fashioned Fourth celebration. Too many of our people are leaving town to look for a days activities when we can furnish them with a lot of excitement and a safe Fourth of July right here at home with their friends and neighbors. Plans include a band concert at the city park Sunday evening, the Fourth of July; an early dawn cannon roar at sunup Monday, the Fifth, with flag raising ceremonies by local Boy Scout i and international treat during the day at program Price City Park; ball games; troops; concessions; games; and topped off with a gigantic fireworks display in the evening. Financial participation will be needed from the business and professional people in our area and a first class membership drive is being planned to activate membership dues for this type of promotion. We are asking everyone in our area to attend, participate and make the Old Fashioned Fourth one in to celebrate Carbon great day : , realization that there is a communication gap between the people, parents and business, and the school system is much in evidence. A Get Acquainted with your Schools program is being considered NOW as a Chamber project for next fall.
