On Dec. 18, 1969, James was found guilty "30-d- Helper justice of the peace court on a charge of glue sniffing and at that time he was sentenced by JP Allert Brez-nic- k to pay a fine of $150 and serve 30 days in jail. However, $50 of the fine was suspended along with the jail sentence on condition that he pay $100 of the fine and ' that he refrain from any unlawful acts for a probationary period of six months. " r Meanwhile, during this probationary period, James appeared in the Price City Court April 23 on a charge of possession of a narcotic drug (marijuana) filed by Price City police. He pleaded guilty to this charge and was sentenced to serve six months in the county jail, the sentence suspended by Judge Tom Platis upon condition that he appear before the court at 'Ihc end of that time and duiing the interim to refrain from using on possessing drugs or distuibing the peace. On May 15 James was served with an order to show cause why the probation allowed by the justice of the peace court should not be revoked based upon his conviction in the Price city court during the probationary period. He appeared in the JP court May 21 and the court found there were grounds to order revocation of the original probation which has resulted in the payment of the $50 suspended plus serving the 30 days of the original sentence. V The Carbon County Chamber of has set aside its regular meeting agenda of June 2 to pay tribute to Dr. John W, Tucker, who has resigned as presi-deof the College of Eastern Utah. Since 1962 when he was named to head the college, he has been instrumental in developing an impressive building program and almost doubling the enrollment. He has been closely identified with the Museum and has been invaluable in securing commitments from the University of Utah for displays at the museum. The Feast will be served Sunday, May 31, near Moab at the Lions Park across the river from the boat dock from noon to 6 p.m. . The population in the Castle Dale division which includes Castle Dale, Cleveland, Elmo, Huntington and Orangeville along with adjoining areas dropped from 3,198 to 2,943. The Ferron division which includes Emery and Ferron and surrounding areas dropped from 1114 to 1104, and the Green River division dropped from 1,234 to 1,057. According to Mr. Lomax, the Census Bureau will commence in the fall of 1970 to publish official population figures for all areas in the United States by states, counties, cities, towns and villages. At its meeting Monday night, the Price city council expressed some doubts as to the accuracy of the citys census. District 4 Highway Engineer James Deaton says his department also is cognizant of the streets condition and something is going to be done about it when the weather gets good and warm, probably in July or August.
