Show Smokey Says: Army Reservists Planning to Enter 1 Colleges Can Request Training Delay Authority has just been grantby Headquarters Sixth US Artny Reserve who are scheduled to take six months active duty training may request additional delay of entry on such training for educational reasons, it was today by Lieutenant Colonel James W. Brandon, procurement officer, Fort Douglas. This provision is an educational deferment and applies specifically to those U. S. army reservists who wanted to begin the six months active duty training in June or July, in order to be back in time to enroll for the winter quarter at the colleges and universities, but who will be delayed in entry on training until fall due to the large number of trainees, limited quotas and train ing facilities. If they so desire, reservists in this category- may request that their entry on six months active duty training be delayed until next spring in order that they might get started on their college work this fall. Colonel Brandon further stated this new provision would permit students to enroll for the fall and winter quarters without interference and that by beginning their six months training in March 1958, they would normally be back home in time for the fall registration. Reservists interested in effecting' the delay in entry on active duty training must personally arrange the details with their unit commanders or unit advisors ed ed per-sonn- UNITED miles. lowing : Addition to Durrant School Four Carbon Youths Enlist in Army Sergeant First Class Kenneth at E.
