The South high Cubs are riding twice-beate- Undefeated The South high Cubs continue to lead the pack in Big Nine play following last weeks staggered schedule which was disrupted because of changes made necessary by the approaching deer hunting season. The Cubs emphasized their su premacy when they knocked over a strong Davis crew by a score of 2 7to 0. Jordan and East remained tied In the second slot with Jordan taking West 12 to 0 and East outdistancing Granite 33 to 19. Davis and Carbon are tied in the third spot Carbon defeated Provo 21 to 7 while Davis lost to South. Listed below are a few safety rules which if read and put into practice will increase your chances of being around to eat your game: 1. Treat every gun with the respect due a loaded gun. 2. When not actually being used for hunting, all guns should be unloaded and taken down, or actions opened. , 3. Make certain that your barrel and action are not plugged with snow, rocks, twigs, greese, etc. 4. Carry your gun so that the direction of the muzzle can be controlled, even if you stumble. 5. Unload and set your gun down while climbing through fences, deep ditches, etc. 6. Be sure of your target before you pull the trigger. 7. Dont aim at anything you dont intend to shoot; avoid all horseplay while handling a gun. 8. Save alcoholic drinks for camp after the days hunt. spokesmen keep their kill dry. Special care is necessary during damp weather to prevent souring and loss of meat. The meat should be kept free from water following cleaning of the animal. Many hunters keep extra canvas on hand with which to cover the kill when hanging or in open transportation. Those who were not successful during the opening days are planning other excursions into the wilds. A bad streak of weather hit the nimrods Sunday, the second day of the hunt, and many left the higher reaches sans their deer just to get out from under the snow storms which blanketed the mountains and extended into the lower elevations. Opening day fair weather rapidly turned into an unexpected heavy storm over most of the state before noon Sunday. Many popular high country hunting areas had received a foot or more of snow before evening. The kill quickly dropped as hunters broke camp and headed for home. Numbers were caught without tire chains and other necessary equipment to meet the weather and road conditions. Latest reports indicate all parties were able to move out, many through the assistance of better equipped fellow hunters, Department of Fish and Game employees and personnel of other agecies. As the season continues sportsmen are again advised to go out equipped to meet extreme conditions afield. Migrations Coming Reports from the marshlands tell of northern duck migrations beginning to show up in quantity. Increased flights can be expected as a portion of the heavy 1934 population of birds move down the Utah flyways from the north.
