The campaign to raise funds for buying the bell, which weighs 1300 pounds and can be heard for a distance of 18 miles, was in charge of Harry Mahleres of reOr- Long Illness Fatal To Former Grand Chancellor Of Utah Knights Of Pythias James George Reese, 50, prominent county resident for many years, past grand chancellor of the Knights of Pythias in Utah, died at his home, 437 North Second East, Sunday of a heart ailment after a long illness. He had been confined to bed since January. Mr. Reese was timekeeper for the works progress administration in Carbon county at the time he became ill, and he had previously held responsible positions with the W. P. A. after coming to Price from Hiawatha, where he served as billing clerk for the United States Fuel company for 12 years. Reese, Jr., and Edward Reese, Hiawatha; Chester, Robert and Llewelyn Reese, Price; two daughters, Mrs. Jessie Hargrave, New Deal, Montana, and Mrs. Helen White, Price; two brothers, Bert Reese, Livingston, Montana, and Ira Reese, El Cerita, California. Mr. Reese was well known in baseball circles, handling scoring duties for several teams, as well as figuring prominently in club administrations. Funeral services were conducted in the L. D. S. tabernacle Tuesday afternoon under the direction of the Knights of Pythias. The lodge ritual was conducted by Utah Grand Chancellor Edwin Slater, Garfield; Past Grand Chancellors G. Z. Edwards of Garfield, L. N. Meid of Ogden and N. W. Sonnedecker of Salt Lake City; D Price. Three Hurt In Auto Accident Sunday On Road West Of Price Three persons were injured Sunday evening west of Price when Howard Wahl of Helper swerved his automobile to miss a pedestrian and collided with a car driven by E. E. House, grazier for the department of interior. Mrs. House suffered a fractuied left leg and lacerations of the face. Mrs. Wahl received bruises and cuts and the pedestrian, a transient who gave the name of Carl Carlson, was cut on the face and head. The injured were taken to the Price City hospital. The accident was investigated by Deputy Sheriff Warren Peacock. Carlson was walking with the traffic and failed to move off the road, making it necessary for Mr. Wahl to turn to the left. He was coming toward Price, while the House car was headed in the direction of Helper. Guymon, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Harmon, Mr. and Mrs. Orson Rowley, Mr. and Mrs. Silas Rowley and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. June Bartlett, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hanson, Mr. and Mrs. John Harmon, James and Gerald Anderson, Miss Thelma McKinnon, Miss Ruby Draper, Mr. and Mrs. F. B. Hammond and L. M. Rasmussen. A visit to the annual exhibit of the Spnngville high school's famous art collection will be made Saturday by members of the art appreciation class of the Carbon county high school. S. A. Olsen, art instructor at the school, will be in charge of the trip, in which over 20 students and teachers will participate. CITY JUSTICE IMPOSES FINE FOR DISTURBANCE OF PEACE William Jarvis of Emery cetrntv was fined $15, with the alternative of serving 15 days in the county jail, when he appeared before City Justice II. C. Smith Tuesday on a charge of disturbing the peace. He was arrested Monday by Chief of Police George Collingham and Officer Tony Silvagni.
