Entry blanks are available at the USU County Extension Agent office in the Sevier Co. Courthouse, 250 N Main, Richfield. Associated with the Civic Beautification Program is the TIDY TOWN AWARD. The winner of this award receives a mini-par- k which consists of trees, flowering shrubs, ground cover, a bench and stepping stones. This year the TIDY TOWN AWARD will go to a community with population 2,000 to 10,000. Entry forms for the TIDY TOWN contest are also available at my office. We live in beautiful surroundings and should try to assure that our communities and associated settlements add to that beauty. County, 896-926- m CTTn SAUNA CITY HOLDS PUBLIC HEARING Last Thursday night Salina City held a public hearing to discuss changing the zoning in an area of town so that a Dentist could have his office there. The city heard the public and will make a final decision at a future meeting. 2, Gunnison Valley Hospital gives scholarships " V Gunnison Valley Hospital and Medical Staff are proud to present four $500 cash scholarships to deserving high school Seniors who are interested in pursuing some type of medical career. Recipients of these scholarships are from three area high schools. North Sevier, Gunnison and Manti. Named as winner of the from North Sevier High was Amber Erdei, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Erdei , and granddaughter of Keith and Vaneese Barrett, of Salina. Joshua Harward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Harward, and Melissa Christensen, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Jan Christensen, were the students chosen from Gunnison High. They are asking for your help. They will make puppets for Project Smile - a team of plastic surgeons from the U.S. who travel the third world countries doing corrective surgery. They donate their time and supplies to the cause. One thing they have found that children worldwide enjoy is a new toy. Sevier would like to help County out by making puppets and donating to this team of surgeons and nurses. You can be of assistance by donating knit or felt material, buttons, yam, any trimmings and fabric glue. The Advisory Council held their monthly meeting on June 10th after we enjoyed an excellent meat loaf dinner with all the trimmings. There are several things that must be done very soon for the Center, such as cleaning, painting, weeding and spraying. If anyone has an hour to spare, it would be nice for them to volunteer their help. We have our new van, but we have to install mnning boards before it can be used. September 10 and 1 1 have been designated as dates for the Senior Citizen Yard Sale. If anyone has anything they would like to donate family of py 9d. Taylor to the cause, bring it to the Center almost any time. The Information Booth opened on June 14th. We still need volunteers to help man it. This weeks menu includes: Thursday - Roast beef, whipped potatoes, gravy, tossed green salad, fruit salad, cake, bread, butter, milk, where we can get information upon it. Samuel Johnson kindergarten children in Russia. They have very little educational materials for the schools there. The campers want to make simple flip books to be donated to the Russian schools. Free black powder seminar set June 25 We need old magazines, coloring books, and glue for this project Once the books are complete, the biggest obstacle will be postage. Campers and counselors will welcome any donation to help defray the cost of The Division of Wildlife Resources will sponsor a free black powder seminar at the Lee Kay Center for Hunter Education Friday, June 25, from 7 to 10 p.m. Center manager Mark Beamson says the purpose of the seminar is to introduce hunters to black powder hunting and muzzle.loading. The Lee Kay Center is located at 6000 West 2100 South, SLC. For more information call postage. Workshop The award winning Intrigue of the Past workshop, by the Utah Museum of Natural History, Bureau of Land Management and State office of Education will be held at Sevier Valley Applied Technical College (SVATC), in Richfield on July 20, 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. each day. A field trip to Colorado City, Utah is set for Thursday and Friday, July 22, 23. Registration is $25 for the workshop and $25 for the field trip.
