The Redmond Ward Choir presented an Easter Program Sunday during the Sacrament Meeting. Jill and Bobby Porter were sustained Sunday to be teachers in the Primary. Kendra Jensen was released as a Primary Teacher. At the home of Pryce and Cheryl Hales over the weekend was their daughter Sharalyn Hales. Plans are being made for the Redmond Ward Easter Outing to be held on Saturday. the Redmond Ward Cultural hall Wednesday evening. Seven wards presented their roadshows with the theme Fractured Fairytales. They were all a delight to watch and a good crowd turned out to watch them. Dani Susman and Mike Loftland were married Wednesday in the Manti LDS Temple, A reception was held that same evening at t .he home of Whitney and Mary Christensen with many family and friends attending. Brent Nelson was also married this weekend. He is the son of Chad and Elaine Nelson. An openhouse was held at the Nelson home Saturday afternoon with many family members and friends stopping by to wish the newly weds well. Shanna Anderson, daughter of Nathan and Betty Anderson has been here visiting with her parents. Kerri Jo Wilkins, daughter of Kendyl and Carla Wilkins spent the weekend with her family. Tammy Johnson and Jennifer Johnson were in Logan this past Thursday and Friday to attend some classes at USU. They visited with Tammys sister Leslie in Provol Visiting with Mrs. Fern ' The Single Adults of Gunnison Stake met at Mayfield Ward on Monday for their Easter party. A delicious dinner was served buy the Mayfield Ward Relief Society. A spiritual thought was given by Mary Hermansen, Nancy Jensen, Natasha Madsen and Janell Olsen presented the musical Saturday Warriors. Everyone enjoyed this program. Katherine Whitlock is the president of the Single Adults and her counselors are Dorthcla Jensen and Letha ' Willardson. Katherine Whitlock is in Salt Lake staying with her grandchildren. Their parents Kurt and Noriko Whitlock have gone to Japan to Morikos family. Shehasntseen her family for fourteen years. Katherine brought the grandchildren to Gunnison for the weekend and they attended church int he Gunnison Second Ward. Jed Dyreng, son of Paul and Delma Dyreng and husband of Ann Bjerregaard was called to be in the second counselorof the Bishopric of a BYU student ward. David Anderson, son of Tom and Sharon Anderson, is the first counselor. Scott Childs and son of Salt Lake City visited with his parents Beverly and Grover Childs and his sister and husband Bruce and : s Old Folks The party was held Saturday at the Stake Tri-Wa- rd Center. Many people enjoyed a ; 1 wonderful day. There was a program then a dinner and the slides of previous parties. There were games and dancing to music by band from Redmond. Those who didnt dance really enjoyed the music. Then there was more food to eat. It was nice to visit with people you dont see everyday or week. It was a very nice day and we want to say thanks to all of the people who made it possible. The Gunnison First Ward sustained a new bishop and counselors on Sunday. Allen Dyreng is the new Bishop with David Kjar and Dr. Dwight Inouye as counselors. Lynn Pickett is the Executive secretary, Eugene Lund is the Ward Clerk and Randy Larson is the Financial clerk. Those men that were released were Bishop Miles Jensen and counselors Curtis Anderson and Allen Dyreng. Many family and friends were there for this special day. "'"I would like to pay a tribute to a wonderful lady Emma Jensen. She was a special lady and an inspiration to her family and friends. To live for 98 years and to be active and have such a wonderful mind and be able to remember so many things, she will be missed very much because she was a wonderful lady. Joanne Peterson from Ogden has been visiting her mother Bessie Alexander. Bessie has been in Provo and Joanne brought Bessie back to Gunnison and spent several days helping her. Utah will continue to grow through the 1990's S tates in the south and west make up nine of the ten states pro- jected to be the fastest growing from 1986 to 2010, according to the Bureau of Census. Utahs neighbors, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico make up the top three. The other western states include Hawaii, Alaska and California. Utahs unemployment rate in 1988 dropped to 5.1 percent, the lowest annual rate for the 80s. Wages, personal income and retail sales are all projected to grow at considerably faster rates than 1987. For the 5th straight year Utah experienced more people moving out of the state to find jobs - than those coming in from outside for jobs. Emma Hansen Jensen passes Emma Hansen Jensen, ot Uunriison died March 97 17, 1989 in the Gunnison Hospital. She was bom in Central(Sevier County) on June 19, 1891 to Johannes and Elsie Marie Poulsen Hansen. She married William Leon Jensen on December 1, 1909 in Manti. Later Solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple. He died on May 30, 1973. She was a Relief Society Visiting Teacher for 55 years. Survivors are: Neldon E. Jensen, Gunnison; Rulen L. Jensen, Orem; Mrs. Webb (Irene) Anderson, Salt Lake City , and Mrs. Royal (Helen) Peterson, Murray, 14 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by 1 grandchild and 2 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 1989 at 1:00 p.m. in the Gunnison Stake Center where friends may call Tues . day evening from 7 to 9 p.m. and 1 1:30 from to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday prior to services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the direction of the Warren R. Jensen Funeral Home. 2 J for their prop drill. Kim and Luann Sorenson spent two days in Mesa, Arizona visiting with Kims parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Sorenson who have enjoyed the winter in Arizona. Three young couple enjoyed the weekend together in St. George, Roland and Julia Christensen, Kenny and Ranae Markus and sons, and Dennis and Kayleen Avery. The men all played in the golf tournament and the team that Dennis played in took 1st place. They all enjoyed the outing together along with the beautiful spring weather in St George. Farms across America have held fairly steady since the 1982 census according to the US Agriculture Department The 1987 census shows that there were 14,066 farms across the nation; 5,939 of them sold more than $10,000 during the year. The average size of the farm was 710 acres, but those making $10,000 or more had farms averaging 1,452 acres per farm. Little farms were still in style though, as 2,365 had farms from 1 to 9 ares - however only 367 of them made more then $10,000 from their farmlands. The age of the average farm operator was 53.7 years. Therewas a Chinese Cooking demonstration, suggestions on doing genealogy, Easter crafts and an excellent lesson. Chow Mein was served for lunch. The roadshows were held Wednesday March 15 in Redmond, Salina and Aurora. Many of the young people participated. They all did a very fine job.
