Commissioners Minutes Reports From Legislature Minutes of the regular meet- Many issues have been settled in the Legislature. There is a time lag between the happenings and when you read this. There was a bill before the Senate which would have given control over the technicals schools of Provo and Salt Lake to the State Board of Vocational Education. Now, the Board of Regents also has authority in that area. It is a dual control sort of thing, not too good, but it is working, so we killed the bill. About Fish and Game license raises: I hope my people understand why I supported this bill. I feel that these people who fish and hunt should pay their way. 1 dont think my neighbor who does not fish or hunt should pay for my recreation. Even with the raises, some $1.3 million will come from the General Fund. The increase in cost of fish food, gasoline, etc. have made a raise mandatory. Hunt Bill went My Buck-onlto defeat. The only down support for this bill came from my 28th Senatorial District. The Predator Bill was amended and passed. It is an improvement. However, it is the Federal Government which has stopped the use of certain chemicals to control the coyotes. You all know about the Bond Bill which will make a physical education facility for Snow College and a technical school building for the vocational area school in Richfield. The money for Palisade Park, $250,000, was passed in a supplementary appropriation bill. Plans are being worked on. A bill by Rep. A FOR SALE: OCCA- 1 the Manpower put an ad in the local paper concerning a Zoning Hearing to be held on April 21st, 1975, concerning requests of Ray Greenwood, Don Munk, and Gary Porter. The motion was made by the money fr new Power plants comes from selling stocks and bonds to investors. And these investors expect a reasonable profit on their investment. That means Utah Power must run an efficient, profitable operation so it can attract the investor money it needs to meet future power demands. You see, in just ten years the demand for electric power has doubled in Utah Powers service area. And, if Utah Power is to meet the level of demands estimated for 1978, they will need close to a billion dollars for new plant construction. And, since youre a customer, you have a right to know that the money to build the new plants Utah Power & Light customers will need comes from investors, not rate payers, and that investors expect a reasonable profit on their investment.
