Motion passed unanimously. The Financial Summary as of February 28, 1974, was reviewed by the Board members, after which Mr. Manning made the motion, seconded by Mr. Madsen, that the Financial Summary be accepted. The motion passed unanimously. Mr. Greenwood was desirous of going on record as being in favor of the three new buses approved for purchase during last Board meeting. His intent was being in favor of diesel engines and not in favor of gasoline engines. The payment of tuition for foster students was discussed. The State Superintendent will issue a letter in the near future sharing the feeling of the State Department of Education and the Society of Superintendents that these students should have their tuition paid by the foster family. Superintendent Teeples was asked to obtain information on how much foster parents are paid for their services, and also if some people on the welfare program are forced by agencies to accept foster children in their home. This item will be considered more fully in a later meeting. There was discussion concerning participation of school children in the Mental Health Clinic. The Sevier School e District has counselors and a nurse now employed in the district. It was determined that some students have problems that do not relate to existing school staffs. Further discussion resulted in a motion by Mr. Nielson, seconded by Mr. Madsen, that this item be held in abeyance until such time as the School Board and the Sevier County Commission can hold a joint meeting. Motion passed unanimously. Supt. Teeples awarded a certificate of appreciation to the Sevier School District Board of Education from Richfield High School FFA for contribution and support to their program.
