Show The Salina Sun, March 7, 1974, Page 6 Sevier student body was able to watch this excellent drill on Thursday, the first day of the Round Robin, during a Pep Assembly. Everyone noted the evident enthusiasm of these girls, and their pride in the school which they represented. Thank you, drill team! As always, the week after the regional Round Robin, there seems to be a lot happening around the campus of NSHS. This week is Spirit Week. As you might know, this week, the various classes will be competing for the honor of the Class with Most Spirit. Last year, the Senior Class, under the direction of Brent Jensen, won the trophy. This year, it is a toss-up- . As I heard someone say while walking down the hall, everyone deserves it. Weve all got spirit. The spirit stick will go to the class which can demonstrate its spirit best. We'll fill you in on the winner at a later date. This week, NSHS participated in an American Legion Oration Contest. Our lone participant was a funny little fellow by the name of Doug Christensen. would like to say, "Good luck, but somehow it just Doug, doesnt seem to fit. Oh, well, I'll figure it out later. Everyone at North Sevier Lane wants to congratulate Peterson on his Distinguished Service Award. Heaven knows it was well deserved. So, on behalf of the student body and faculty of North Sevier, congratulations, Lane! (Seems like Lane is winning just about everything these days). I'm sure I havent covered all the events at NSHS in this short space. There is more, of that you can be certain. We invite you to visit the campus, and possibly even participate in some of the activities. I would like to say, give Mr. Dunn a call, but Im afraid that could be hazardous to my health. My only recourse would be to plead innocent on grounds of insanity. Until next week H.S.H.S. E 17 S J Campbells 46 oz. This tribute to Mrs. Mason was written by Virgie Nielsen: that's baptism, and the mass, as having anything to do with sinners being brought into a right relationship with God. let As God's drawbridge Jesus down from heaven, spans the distance between God and men. No ceremonies or good deeds done on this side of the bridge will carry you to the other side. You must cross over the bridge! Jesus is not a mere guide or pointing out the way to heaven ; but Ke is Himself the Way. Man would rather make his own way to God by prayers, tears, reformations, and charities. But Jesus said, "No man cometh unto the Father but by Me. When Jesus said, "I a m the way, He excluded rituals, membership, lodge membership, moral perfection, Spring has arrived at Benediction. It certainly wasnt an unexpected victory. The students of North Sevier have been rooting the Wolves along, and we'd like to think that our encouragement added just a little to the Wolf spirit. North Sevier, the entire student body and faculty included, is proud of Coach Paul Beck and his magnificent Wolves. The basketball team came alive last week, bouncing the ball so hard in the first game that South Sevier could hardly walk or shoot straight. Then the Wolves went into the second game with Gunnisoh, one of the better teams of the State. Even though we lost, we showed them that North Sevier was no second rate team, and theyd better watch out (which they did). Wayne County was no match for the steamrolling team, and thus, here we are, holding down what will certainly be inevitable victory in the State Tournament. North Sevier is especially proud of Lane Peterson and Doug Holt, two exemplary basketball players, whose fine ability, as well as led them to sportsmanship, winning awards of merit from the Round Robin officials. Lane and Doug did a super job and represented North Sevier well. The basketball team represented us well, but they weren't the only ones. Miss Madeline Wilson and her smashing drill team represented NSHS in a marching contest held in Mount with Pleasant, corresponding the Round Robin.
