LaRall Thompson and family of Thatcher were in Salt Lake City Thursday evening to meet Ben Couch of Karonoah, New Zealand who accompanied them to Thatcher where he was a houseguest until Saturday. Ben Couch is a former missionary convert friend of LaRall and they have met several times since LaRall served an LDS mission in New Zealand. They were houseguests of Mrs. Coombs brother and sister-in-laCol. and Mrs. Byron Hall and family in Alexandria, Va. The Hall family accompanied them on sight seeing tours. They visited at Williamsburg, Va. They also had tours of the White House, the Capitol, attended a session of the Senate and visited Arlington cemetery. In New York City they attended the ballet at the Metropolitan Opera house at Lincoln center. They also toured the LDS Mormon headquarters. While at the Hall home, Miss Lynn Hall who had just comy pleted an LDS mission in Uru-guar- returned home. Enroute home the Coombs family visited Dr. and Mrs. Ray Sessions in Boulder, Colo., and Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Arlene Labrum) Whyte and family in Longmont, Colo. Jami enjoyed visited her friend Pam Labrum. Thursday afternoon Mrs. Mildred Baer, Mrs. Mildred Shumway accompanied by Mrs. Zenna White of Garland attended a meeting at the home of Mrs. Beth Gurrister in Brigham City for International Womens Year. A meeting for ladies in the Tremonton-Garlan- area d will be held May 20 at the Bear River High school at 7:30 p.m. Douglas Morrison, son of Mr. Vernell Morrison claimed Linda Barendegt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ingen Barendegt of Salt Lake City, as his bride in rites performed in the Salt Lake Mrs. Glena Hales, vice president and Mrs. Vernell Morrison, secretary. Retiring officers are Mrs. Ruby Scholar, Mrs. Marilyn Johnson and Mrs. Phyllis Markham. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Dottie Whitney. Among those enjoying a buffet luncheon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Ashby following the concert held at the high school Friday evening were Miss Lani Poulsen, a graduate of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. J. Christensen has returned after spending the past three weeks visiting her and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Holden (Luanna) Brink and family in Billings, Mont. Mrs. Brink is recuperating following back surgery. A weekend guest of President and Mrs. Gerald Simmons and family was Elder Marvin J. Ashton, a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of the LDS church. A hot luncheon was enjoyed, a social followed along with handiwork. Mrs. Nedra Christensen of Plain City joined the group. Mrs. Phoebe Henrie accompanied by Mrs. Jennie Gephart and Mrs. Hazel Rose of Garland BC grade students at the North Park school under the direction of their teachers Dorothy Nelson and Robert Byram enjoyed a trip to Salt Lake City Friday where they visited the Hansen Planetarium, The Museum of Natural History and Hogle Zoo. Captain and Mrs. George R. Ficklin and sons George Dennis and Jason of Mountain Home AFB are visting Captain Ficklin will leave June 3 by plane for England where he will be stationed. Mrs. George R. Ross Miller accompanied by his grandson Steven Miller of Kaysville enjoyed fishing at Strawberry reservoir for a few days last week. Mrs. Wilford Rogers attended the 48th birthday anniversary of the Eastlami (returned missionaries from the Eastern states) held Wednesday evening at the Lions House in Salt Lake City. A special program was enjoyed and a dinner served. LitThe Tremonton-Garlanerary club met at the home of Mrs. Mary Waldron Wednesday evening. Mrs. Erma Summers gave an interesting review of The Man Who Moved A Mountain by Richard C. Davis. Its the story of a man who was a Presbyterian and moved into a Baptist area and the changes he was able to make. He helped build five churches while he was there. Some of his sons became ministers. yoU Light refreshments were enjoyed. The Simada club met at the home of Mrs. Vernell Morrison Tuesday evening for their closing meeting for the season. President Mrs. Ruby Scholar conducted the meeting. Mrs. Scholar announced the spring banquet for all Simada chapters will be held at the Hillary House in Ogden May 20 with the Lamba chapter as hostess. She also announced the lessons for next year will be prepared by the Iota chapter of Simada in Arizona. She read a brief history of the Simada club. The lessons were on Hawaii. Mrs. Mildred Harris gave the first part and told of the Founding of the Kingdom and The Early Beliefs and the Missionaries. Mrs. Marjorie Brockman gave the second part and told of the Succession of Government from Monarchy to Democracy and People and Economy.
