It seems with this colder weather weve been having, parts of the main water line have been freezing, particularly on the south end of town. To help avoid this costly, and needless to say, inconvenient misfortune, we are all asked to let a fine stream of water run from our faucets. On to more pleasant thoughts, we are so happy to hear Metta Palmer is home from the hospital and recovering from her pneumonia. to We will soon bid good-by- e Paula Johnson, who has been called on a mission to Spain. She will be Aff Feb. tp Brigham Young University in Provo for two months of language training (L.T.M.) J No English Treva tells me that during this time, students are not permitted to speak English, even in their rooms. I suppose theres no better way to learn the language of a people you will live amongst for two years. We all wish Paula the very best on her mission. She will give her farewell talk on Sunday evening (January 23). Been Busy The Ferry men have been very busy these last weeks. On Friday, Jan. 7, Cordell played on a basketball team of Intermountain Indian school employes against the Harlem Thrillers. Although the Thrillers proved too good for them, it was a fun time for all not only did the whole family attend, but also two guests, Craig Davis and Robert Valentine. The boys slept over after, although it is suspected they didnt sleep at all since they were discovered practicing Rung Fu on the furniture at 3:30 a.m. In the eight and nine year old boys basketball competition, Steven Ferry seems to be doing quite well. On Saturday, Jan. 8, he won the district Hoop Shoot, sponsored by the National Elks, which was held at the Box Elder Junior High school. This made him eligible to enter the competition on Jan. 15 at Bear River High school to determine who would represent Elks Lodge No. 2208 in the National Shoot off. He only lost by a couple of baskets, but it was a good try! Dora Hobbs gave a birthday dinner party to celebrate husband Dougs 31st birthday on Monday, Jan. 10. She prepared all his favorites for dinner, including a chocolate layer cake. Unfortunately, 18 month old Caleb couldnt wait for dinner and so destroyed the cake by 4:00, much to Doras distress.
