Ive never eaten a meal she cooked that I havent enjoyed. Normans wife, the former Marcia Loosli is a native of Salt Lake City where she graduated from East High school and LDS seminary. She was employed as a long distance telephone operator prior to her marriage. Norman is employed as a laboratory technician at Thiokol Corp. The LaBarges have four sons and one daughter, Corey, 14; Blair, 13; Brett, 8; Alyssa. 7, and Nolan, five months. They have lived in Tremonton the past two years in a lovely new modern home at 804 South First West. Previously Marcia lived in Salt Lake City while Norman served in Vietnam after which they lived in Vienna, Va., and North Logan before coming to Tremonton. Marcia is well organized in her home. My mother is a fabulous cook" Marcia said.' Everything she cooks always turns out just right and is so appetizing. You should taste the gravy she makes ! The recipes Im shairng with Box Elder Journal reader today are special favorites which my mother makes. Pracitically all the recipes I use are from my mothers recipe file. Her house always has that fragrant aroma of good things cooking. I found Marcia is one of those busy, energetic active persons who never allows time to go to waste. Combine all ingredients and pour over chicken and broccoli. Sprinkle over crumbs which have been stirred in melted butter. Spread with grated cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 to 30 min. t Have Large Garden The LaBarges have a large vegetable garden plus many varieties of small and large fruits. Marcia cans a large supply of both fruit and vegetables. She is a member of The Reflections a singing group comprised of 12 ladies who entertain at community and ward social. She plays the piano and is music director on the Primary stake board. She also enjoys reading when time permits. As a family the LaBarges enjoy camping and hiking. Marcia admits she loves to cook with five children in addition to herself and her husband, she cooks in large quantities. She is especially fond of making desserts. Following in the footsteps of her mother, her own home has the fragrant aroma of good things cooking, Women eligible for member-- ' ship in the American Legion auxiliary and girls eligible for junior membership are invited to attend the auxiliarys annual membership dinner slated for Monday, Sept. 27, at the War Memorial Home. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the evening will include a dinner served under the chairmanship of Kathy Jensen. Alice Johnson, membership chairman, has headed the planning committee for the event. All persons interested in membership may contact her or Jean Davis, president of the auxiliary. Reservations for the dinner may be made by calling Mrs. Davis or Mrs. Johnson at MEAT ROLLS (yields 12) 1 recipe for bisquick short cake or standard bisquick eliminating the sugar. Roll out to Y in. thickness and spread with the following meat mixture. 1 lb. gr. beef, 1 egg, Y tsp. sage seasoning (optional) 1 tsp. salt, 2 tsp. pepper, c. catsup, Y - or 1 med. onion, diced. Roll dough up as a cinnamon roll and slice off 1 inch slices and place on cookie sheet which has been well greased. Cook in 350 degree oven 30 min. or until crust is golden brown. Serve cream of chicken soup over rolls. C- too! Try the recipes listed below and youll probably clip them out for your field marked special favorites. CHICKEN DIVINE pkgs. frozen chopped broccoli or 2 cans of gr. beans. 8 chicken breasts or two whole chickens. 2 c. cream of chicken soup. 1 c. mayonnaise or Miracle Whip, 1 tsp. lemon juice, Yj tsp. curry powder, c. shredded sharp cheese, lj Yt c. bread crumbs (dry or soft) 1 T. melted butter. Cook broccoli until nearly tender. Line glass dripper so broccoli shows around edges. Break chicken into bite 2 3 GRAHAM GEMS c. firmly packed fine graham cracker 24 . crackers) crumbs, (about semi-swechocolate chips, coarsely chopped nut meats, 1 c. to li2 c. Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk. Mix together graham cracker crumbs, chocolate chips and nut meats. Blend in Eagle Brand milk. Pour into 8 x 8 x 2 inch square pan greased well. Bake at 300 degrees until top is golden brown (about 30 min.) Cut in squares and remove from pan immediately. 1 pkg. (6 oz.) Alene Fryer read a short poem "A Handful of America written by Mabel Anderson which was written sometime ago and published in the Pen Womens booklet Hoots". Mrs. Fryer introduced Miss Phyllis Christensen of Tremonton who presented an interof esting lesson on events had historical interest which happened in western communities in Box Elder county. Those attending, were Elizabeth Lauritzen, Marjorie Childs, Evelyn Daines, Iris Schow of Brigham City, Alva-rett- a Rytting, Phyllis Christensen of Tremonton, Mabel An derson of Bothwell and Alene Fryer of Deweyville.
