Jay Dee Harris, prominent Tremonton businessman and a member of the Utah State university Institutional Council received an Honorary Doctor of Humanities Degree at graduation Exercises held in the Spectrum in Logan Saturday morning. Those attending in the interest of Jay Dee Harris was his wife, Mrs. Alice Harris, Mr. and Mrs. Matt Harris, Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Harris, Dr. and Mrs. ' LaMar Harris of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Richards of Fielding, Mr. and Mrs. Wood-roHale of Logan, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Harris of Bothwell. Dr. and Mrs. LaMar Harris also attended the graduation Exercises at USU in the interest of Mrs. Harriss neice Miss Kay Crandall who received her B.S. degree. Kay Crandall is originally from Rapid City, S.D. Her parents Mr. and Mrs'. F.W. Crandall and son Warren and daughter Charyl of Rapid City and Mr. and Mrs. James Gower of Alubrquerque, N.M. also attended the exercises and remained as houseguests of Dr. and Mrs. Harris. Thursday they were all dinner guests of Dr. and Mrs. Louis Moench in Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hales, Mrs. Grace Hales accompanied by Mayor and Mrs. George Hales of Garland and Mrs. Rhea Cravens' of Salt Lake City attended a Hales at the lovely summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hales at Cascade Lake, 100 miles north of Boise for the weekend. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hales of Pasco, Wash. w er Francom guests Weekend guests of Bishop and Mrs. Virgil Francom were Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Dawn) Gilmore of Pasco, Wash. Joining them for Sunday dinner were Mr. and Mrs. Craig Woolley and sons Cabot and Logan of Ogden. Mrs. Cleo Hales and son Kim spent the weekend at Bedford, Wyo. visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Oral Merritt. Mrs. DeAnna Allen of Beaver Dam attended the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Concert held at the Weber State College in Ogden Saturday as a guest of her brother Dr. Thayne Hales of Pleasant View who is a member of the choir. Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Claude Iverson attended graduation exercises at the Spectrum at the Utah State University in Logan Paul where their Snyder received his B. S. degree. Following the exercises Mr. and Mrs. Iverson along with Mrs. Lola Snyder and Mr. and Mrs. Steve Snyder and other friends of Salt Lake City, Mrs. Eldon Adams and Susan Hodges of Logan were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Paul (LeeAnn Iverson) Snyder in Logan. Mrs. Hila Mary Nelson of Salt Lake City. Burial was in the ado where they had a guided tour of Mesa Verde to the cliff dwelliqgs of the Pubelo Indians. They also went of the Durango. Thursday they rode the train to Silverton and followed the river up by the glaciers. During the train ride they met eight Mormon missionaries who were going to a Zone Conference. Silverton is a mining town. Most of the streets are of dirt no sidewalks. It is purely a tourist attraction. From Silverton they went by bus to Ouray which is described as the Little Switzerland of America. Here they visited unique shops etc. They rode to elevations of 12,000 feet on narrow, narrow roads. They visited Montrose and went east to the Black Canyon of the Gunnison where deep, deep gorges are. They stayed in Richmond cemetery. Sunday blessing The small son of Mr. and Mrs. Curtis Starr was bless by his father in the 6th ward sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Justin W. Starr. Following the meeting a was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willis Christensen. Guests in addition to Mr. bar-be-q- and Mrs. Curtis Starr and family were Mr, and Mrs. Lynn Larson and six children of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Christensen and three children of Tremonton. The small daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brent Johnson was baptized on Saturday and confirmed in Sacrament meeting Sunday. Following the meeting a dinner party was held especially for Tamette. Other guests in addition to the family were Mr. and Mrs. Vernon L. John-se- n of Bear River City' and Mr. and Mrs. Jesse F. Peterson of Tremonton. Sunday Mrs. LaRene Napoli and daughter Lori, Mrs. Sherry Van Camp and daughter Christy visited relatives in Grouse Montrose overnight. Enroute home they came by way of Green River and Price. Of interest Mr. and Mrs. Orval Grover, and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Firth each observed their wedding anniversary while on the trip. Clarkston who claimed Kathy Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Don Wood of Springville as his bride in rites performed Friday morning in the Provo Temple. The breaks fast was prepared by the of the grooom. A wedding reception was held that evening in the Stake Center. Mrs. Maragret Romer of Tremonton attended the temple ceremony. Danny Ravsten assumed duties of best man for his brother. The small son of Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Campbell (Pamela Forshee) was blessed by his father in Sacrament meeting Sunday and given the name of Colin John Campbell. Following the meeting a dinner party was held at the Campbell home. New baby and Mrs. Don Hess are happy over the arrival of a Mr. granddaughter born to Ballard and Linda Hess Harris Ogden June 1. The new baby will be named Heather Harris. She has a sister Bonnie to welcome her home. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Jule Harris of Tremonton. Mrs. Guy Ballard of Tremonton is the great grandmother. Mr. and Mrs. Don Hess spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ballard Harris and' family in Ogden and enjoyed getting acquainted with their, little new granddaughter. They went to Salina and traveled the new highway to Green River where they visited Cresent Junction and went on the Dead Horse Point and to the Arches National Park. Here they saw red sandstone carved by nature into fantastic patterns.
