Temple rite weds pair Miss Julie Kay Boekweg exchanged marriage vows with Glenn Bergstrom Dixon on Sept. 3 in the Ogden LDS temple. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Boekweg of Provo, and she is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. David Kunzler of Willard. Dr. and Mrs. Dwight R. El-wo- food family women social TOPS continues Beta Sigma Phi holds first . . . season meeting Preceptor Epsilon chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its first regular meeting of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at the home of Edna Jeppson. ' Opening ritual was repeated in unison, afterwhich reports from committees were heard in regard to the coming years activities. Theme for the bicentennial year is Nation of Nations and the lesson was presented by Evelyn Daises on the subjects of two centuries of immigrants, a founding peoples, and out of many - one. She told of the first immigrants who came to the land and the difficulties they encountered with different languages, climate and occupations. The first blacks were brought by the England, who had taken them by force as slaves. Kerr of Blackfoot , Idaho, an- nounce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Dean-n- e Thueson, to Thomas J. Uriona, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph B. Uriona of Brigham City. The couple is planning a Sept. 19 wedding in the Idaho Falls IDS temple. There will be an open house the following evening, Sept. 20, at the home of the bridegroom's parents. All friends and relatives are invited to attend. Miss Thueson is a 19 72 graduate of Blackfoot High school. She is currently attending Brigham Young university and plans to gradual in April, with a degree in interior design. The prospective bridegroom is a 1970 graduate of Box Elder High school. He served an LDS mission in Austrailia. He is also attending Brigham Young university, majoring in interpersonal communications and will graduate in August. Following their marriage the couple plans to reside in Provo. girl SCOOT NSWS New Leaders Neighborhood of Girl Scouts held its first leaders meeting of the season on Monday, Sept. 8, at Gillespie Hall with M.S. Burr conducting. Service team members appointed for the year include Darrell Ann Bergstrom, organizer; Zane Saderholm, junior Box Elder consultant; Sarah Yates, north and south. The first settlers came for a variety of reasons: freedom from oppression, freedom of religion, the right to own land, the right to education, adventure, and many more reasons. A map showing where different nationalities settled was shown to the group and excerpts from the book Nation of Immiby John F. Kennedy grants were read. Closing ritual was repeated. Hostess gift was won by Iona Cefalo, with refreshments served by the hostess and meeting adjourned. Ladies of will .76 . . . 80th birthday Open house to honor 80th birthday An open house will be held to honor Jesse W. Higley on his 80th birthday on Sunday, Sept. 14, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Richard Kimber, 803 Edgehill Drive, Brigham City. A native of Brigham City, he was born on Sept. 14, 1895, and grew up in the local community. He did dry farming in Utah and Idaho before moving to Nevada where he was employed by the Southern Pacific railroad. He retired from railroad work after 35 years and now resides in Wells, Nev., with his wife of 60 years, Phoebe Cherry. Mr. and Mrs. Higley had five children, two of whom are living: Jesse O. Higley of New York, and Mrs. Richard (Joan) Kimber of Brigham City. They have 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Friends and relatives are cordially invited to call at the Bowcutt Reception Center 105 West Main in Tremonton between the hours of p.m. Mr. Laurence Petersen was born in Penrose, a son of Elmer and Flora Marie Fredricksen 5 Petersen. Following their marriage The Brigham City Ladies of Elks are preparing a Calendar of Events and date book for Brigham City. This book will contain three sections. The first will contain a page of events that are titled monthly and will list the events daily that will be taking place in Brigham City. The second will contain a calendar with space to write on each day and the third will contain a personal telephone index listed alphabetically. These books will be placed on sale during December for two dollars a book. They will list any and all events of a club in the special events section for 25 cents a listing. They are the parents of two daughters, Mrs. Vern (Marie) Roche, Thatcher and Mrs. Don (Faye) Van Camp, Ogden. There are 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
