He was a member of the Box Elder Chamber of Commerce and Brigham City Lions club and also of American Legion Post 10. A former Boy Scout commissioner, he aso served as a e in Mantua from 1934 to 1967. Active in the LDS church, he was bishop of Mantua ward for six years, a member of the Box Elder Stake High council for eight years and served a tabernacle mission for many years. Surviving are his widow', one son and five daughters, Dr. Jay Norman Jeppsen, Mrs. Burdell (Gloria) Dyches, both of Bountiful; Mrs. John L. (Ardis) A. Also surviving are five step- sons, two Darius Nelsen, Willis Nelsen, Cecil Nelsen, Dean Nelsen, and Clinton Nelsen, Mrs. Marilyn Mackley, Mrs. Del (Connie) Brookens, all out of state. Other Survivors Other survivors include 19 grandchildren, one three brothers, two sisters, Ray Jeppsen, Herman Jeppsen, both of Mantua; Russell Jeppsen of Ogden; Mrs. Arch L. (Lillian) Christensen of Ogden, and Mrs. Smith (Pearl) Oviatt of Salt Lake City. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm. in the Mantua Ward chapel with Bishop Hal C. Rasmussen officiating. Friends may call at Petersen Funeral chapel in Brigham City this evening (Thursday) from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday at the Mantua Ward chapel from 12 noon until services. Helen Besso Ruth Mathis Besso, 68, of 2225 Madison, Ogden, died Friday at her home natural causes. of She was born July 19, 1906, in Herrin, 111., a daughter of Andrew Jackson and Lydia Mae Gurley Mathis. She was reared and educated Boulder, Colo., and Rock Springs, Wyo. She was married to John Sperry Besso on Dec. 30, 1923, in Winton, Wyo. He died March 30. The members and friends of the United Aldersgate Methodist Church continue to meet every Sunday morning in the oldest Protestant Church building in Utah, Sixth and Colorado, Corinne. Meeting for worship, a.m., this Sundays service will include a time of reflection concerning the end of the year and preparation for the oncoming year. Hopkins Elmer Bryce Hopkins, 90,' of 338 West Third South, Brigham City, died Dec. 23 at home of causes incident to age. He was born Jan. 5, 1884, at Tilton, Fleming County, Ky., a son of James William and Ann Field Jones Hopkins. He married Alexanderene Rena Baird, June 28, 1911 in the Logan LDS temple. She died June Brigham Cement plant and U and I Sugar factory in Brigham City and Garland. He was a former custodian at the Box Elder Stake tabernacle in Brigham City and former secretary of the High Priests quorum and member of the Second Ward High Priests quorum at the time of his death. He is survived by a son and two daughters, William Bryce and Mrs. Ray Hopkins (Delores! Woodland, both of Brigham City; Mrs. Carl (Nola) 10 She was a member of the Ogden LDS Sixth ward and served in the Relief society and Primary organizations. She worked for Defense Depot Ogden. She lived in Brigham City from 1958 to 1971 before moving to Ogden.
