Show U Adrianne, but the lady I was referring to last week was Florence. Please excuse me BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, December 27, 1973 ladies. The choir presented a Christmas cantata Sunday Mantua Meanderings Two local residents suffer broken bones by Joy Jepperson Sad but true, sometimes along with pleasure comes pain. Joyce Nelson was ice skating along to her hearts delight (which she does often by the broke her way) arm. It is painful, Joyce says but she has received a good deal of help so it is not so bad. It must have been broken bones time in Mantua however, because Harve Facer thought he had broken his thumb, but it turned out to be a very bad sprain. Melvern Nelson broke his leg. He slipped in his driveway and broke both bones in his ankle. It is a heck of a way to spend Christmas! says Melvern, his bowel canal. With all this it is needless to say that the Hansens are now concerning the first broken bone he has ever had. With all the mishaps we were very happy to greet Karen and Tom Hansen and their healthy bouncing boy the other night. Karen and Tom are former Mantua-ite- s who now live in Brigham. The report we had heard before seeing the Hansens was that they're new born baby had a lung problem and had been rushed to the University of Utah hospital duplicating the same procedure which proceeded the death of their former infant son born in Mantua. The baby made it through the ordeal and went home only to be taken back again for an operation to open proudly toting around their little guy. He looks just great and has gained two pounds. Speaking of babies, Ronald L. and Catherine Boyle Roubidoux have a new baby girl born Dec. 9 in Ogden. Congratulations Kathy and Ron. Correct Mistake Mistake in last weeks column was that of Florence Gardener visiting Relief society and giving a poem not Mary Gar- dener as was mentioned. Mary Gardener, being quite talented herself has in the past sent a number of articles to our work meeting via her daughter night under the direction of Gorden Bigler with Dean Bigler at the piano. Another piano recital was that of the piano students of Deon Richards on Sunday, Dec. This was held at the 23. Richards home with home made candy and cake being served. Participants were: Shelly and Benny Noyes, Susan Facer, Jill Hansen, Wendy, Mark, and Don Sara Jane MarWallentine. shall, Hiedi and Nathan Carr, Lara Nelsen and Tonnya Johnson. More from the Joyce Nelson home is that Dennis was recently in the choir which performed last week in Salt Lake along with the orchestra and Symphony Concert choir. the Christmas concert This group has been practising since summer for these of his efforts. Visiting the Facers from El Monte, Calif, for a few weeks is Barbaras mother Mrs. Alice Gamble. Friday Dec. 21 marked the 57th wedding anniversary for Ethel and Wallace Jeppesen. The children went in together and bought carpeting for the kitchen floor as a suprise to their mom and dad. The Jeppesens have nine children, 46 grandchildren and 16 Happy New Year! MONTGOMERY, Ala. Hyde. Larry Mann, JO, son of Mr. and Mrs. Palmer Mann, was treated at Valley hospital in Tremonton for arm and back injuries, the sheriff said. A hospital spokesman said the youth was released Monday. The sheriff explained that the accident happened while young Mann was in the yard pulling porcupine quills out of the nose of his dog. His father was in the familys pickup truck parked in the yard, just as another car pulled in, the sheriff said. Attempting to allow the other car to pass, Palmer moved his truck and the right rear tire on the pickup ran over the boy, he said. The accident happened at about 10 a.m. James Brolin says: "Birth defects are forever ...unless you help.
