Earl of Tremonton will be honored at an open house by their family on Saturday, Jan. 6 on the occasion of their golden wedding an- - cene octal Phone Sarah Yates, Society Editor niversary. Ringle, 1624 East 1140 North, Logan, announce the marriage of their daughter Debra to Bruce Barker, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rex P. Barker, 613 East Seventh North, Brigham City. The wedding took place Dec. 14 at the Logan LDS temple with President Rex officiating. A wedding breakfast was held in honor of the couple at the Lofthouse in Logan. That evening a reception was held at the Delta Phi Kappa fraternity house in Logan. The former Miss Ringle is a 1970 graduate of Logan High school. Barker graduated from Box Elder High school in 1966 and has served an LDS mission ot New Zealand. Following a short honeymoon trip to Salt Lake City, the couple is residing in Logan where the bride is continuing her studies at Utah State university and the is bridegroom attending graduate Boy Scout Troop and Cub Pack 322 will canvass the city this Saturday, Jan. 6, to complete their annual Christmas tree pickup drive. The boys and fathers will meet at 9 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran church, where they will begin their routes through the city. Trees left in front of homes will be picked up after checking with the tree owner. will The accept boys contributions for this service, which is a combined community g service project and event. Scouts, Webelos and Cubs of the pack are urged to participate, with a special invitation extended to fathers who can provide open trucks for the project. All fathers are urged to participate along with their Sunday Eve Monthly Fireside for the LDS Mutual Interest group will be held at the small chapel of the Brigham City tabernacle on Sunday, Jan. 7, at 8 p.m. President Malcolm Young of Box Elder North stake will be the featured speaker, with special musical numbers also planned for the evening. The meeting will be under the direction of stake representatives Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Yates of Harper ward. Ward Mrs. representative First Chief Active in church affairs Earl has served in many ward auxiliaries. He was the first fire chief of the volunteer fire department in Tremonton. He has been a sales man for farm machinery. Mrs. Earl has also been active in all ward church activities. She and her husband recently served an LDS Texas mission. She is also a member of the Midland Camp of DUP. fund-raisin- Ruth Hunsaker will be in charge of refreshments. Community Club Slates Talk By Local Mayor Mayor Olof E. Zundel of Brigham City will address members of the Ladies munity club on plans for the city during the coming year, with the meeting slated for 4 p.m. Thursday, - John Leroy will BIRTHDAY be honored Slaughter at an open house Satur- Jan. 4, at the Community Center. Outlining the many plans for the city during the coming year, the mayor will discuss building of the new municipal building, park improvements, downtown planning, and other factors concerning the growth and welfare of Brigham City. John Slaughter Brigham City's chapter of Le Leche League will hold its third meeting on Thursday, Jan. 4, at 8 p.m. at the home of club leader Mrs. Edwin Harrison, 477 South Seventh West. This months discussion will be on childbirth, introduction of the new baby into the home, and methods of overcoming jealously problems by older children. All women interested in the subject are invited to attend, along with their nursing babies. Le Leche League is organized to encourage breast feeding of infants by having nursing mothers work .with other mothers in a group program designed to overcome any problems associated with breast feeding. The group meets monthly for a discussion on infant care and home subInterested women are invited to call Mrs. Harrison for further information. His stepchildren include Owen Fiet of Redondo Beach, Calif.; David Fiet of Ogden, Warren Shurtleff of Ogden, and Mrs. George (Mina) Mitchell of Clearfield. He has 15 tepgrandchlldren and five step great grandchildren. The family asks that no gifts be brought to the open house. Open House Set Honoring 90th Birthday John Leroy Slaughter will be honored at an open house on the occasion of his 90th birthday on Saturday, Jan. 6, from 4 until 8 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John C. Weir, 864 West 700 South. Friends and neighbors are invited to attend the open house. Born in Beaver on Jan. 8, 1883, he is the son of Samuel N. and Ann Elizabeth Huey Slaughter and was the next to youngest of 13 children.
