Show 20 BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, August 10, 1972 Corinno Comments n o Local Couples Return Home By Gertrude Meert Returning home lnit week from n relaxing vacation trip to the Pour Corner area were Mr. and Mr. Clayton Morill and Mr. and Mr. Don Miller. Leaving on Saturday morning of the July 24 holiday, they traveled to Salem. The Morrill left their two daughter, Treaa and Heidi at the home of their paternal grandmother Annie Morrill. Visiting at their mother home in Salem were Morrill later and brother-in-laJack and Nona Kooyman and two of their children from Woodburn, Ore. The family group (pent an enjoyable time of remlniaclng before the vacation-boun- d traveler left to continue their trip. The Morrill and Miller pent four day motoring to Moab Me Verde and to Durango, Colo. They were unable to get reservation to ride the narrow gauge railroad to Silver City. They explored ome of the area and the old mining lte. alght-aeein- g Glen Canyon Dam They returned by way of Glen canyon dam to ee the attraction offered at the iconic point there. A trip through the Indian reaervationa of part of the Four Corner area proved to be of Interest to the couple. They described the hogan and poverty that the people there accept a their way of life. The condition are unbelievable and can only be aeon to understand them. The group returned home Tuesday evening after picking up the Morrill children at Salem. They had spent an delightful time with cousin, attending and parade celebration In the area on July 24. Picnics, swimming and carnival family gatherings were enjoyed by the girls during their stay at grandmas. Vacation Tripe Several resident have taken time for vacation .v, tripe. Leaving for a relaxing four- day vacation trip to the north were Leon and Pauline O'Dell. They left on Sunday evening, on the traveling by mini-bu- s conic mountain route through central Idaho. They went to the home of mid-summ- er friends, Dean and Gladyse Castle at Newman lake near Spokane. They spent a delightful time swimming, boating and enjoying the outdoors in the scenic vacation retreat. They returned home on Thursday evening traveling through Coeu d Alene, Idaho to Missoula, Mont, and home. Visiting here last week from Jackson Hole, Wyo. was Willard Shinkle. He spent the weekend with a son and daughter-in-laEugene and Jeanie Shinkle. Joining the group for dinner in an Ogden reataurant were Keith and Preal Shinkle. Willard and Keith Shinkle are brothers. Willard Peak On Sunday the family group traveled to Willard peak to enjoy a picnic lunch. They were joined by Ivan and May Mangum and son of Brigham City, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shinkle and son of Bountiful; Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Brough of Wellsville; Kenneth and Sandy Shinkle and children, Brandon and Monica and a niece Lisa Ivie. Returning home with Willard Shinkle on Sunday evening were Lisa Ivie and David and Steven Shinkle. The boys will spend two weeks visiting with their grandparents in Wyoming. The Eugene Shlnkles had traveled to Jackson two weeks ago to return Stephanie Ivie to her home in Jackson. They brought Lisa back for a two week stay with them. Birthday slumber parties, LDS girls home outing and 4-- camp activities have kept young citizens here busy the past weeks. Nancy Norman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Norman' entertained 16 girl friends at a birthday slumber party at thier home July 26. The girls brought lumber bags to sleep in tents pitched In the Norman yard. A supper of barbeques, chips, Jello and cake, games horse back riding, playing records d provided the girls with a fun-fille- night Breakfast of waffles, sausage and Juice ended a celebration of presents opened and a very happy twelfth birthday for Nancy. Jill Hardy daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dee Hardy celebrated with a stumer party as she reached her twelfth birthday. Sleeping In the Hardy family room were 16 schoolmates and friends to make the occasion a truly happy time. Playing records, horseback riding, games and opening presents gave the group a fun time. Pizza supper, cake ice cream and punch were enjoyed during the evening's festivities. Breakfast of pancakes, bacon and juice and the return to their homes ended the party for the sleepy tired girls and hostess. Tuesday evening saw a large group of YWMIA girls and their leaders spent a might at the girl's home in Mantua. Special girls guests were who will attend Mutual for the first time. Leaders who went to chaperone the activities were, Beaula Wells, Irene Jensen, Shanna Nelson and Janice Bunderson. Girls furnished food for supper and breakfast spent at the camp. They returned home on Wednesday morning to make preparations to leave for camp in Alpine, Wyo. Mrs. Verda Welch has been delighted this week with the surprise visit from a son Keith Welch of Melbourn, Fla. He flew here on a business and pleasure trip to visit with relatives here. Spending several days with Mrs. Welch the past week have been Mr. and Mrs. Terry (Hope) Welch and children Kristin, Shawn and Corey of Montpelier, Idaho. Hope and the children have returned to their home in Idaho. Terry Welch will spend several days here visiting with his mother and brother. He is working on his thesis and doing seminary work in connection with the position of LDS seminary principal he has accepted. Visitors at the home of Fred Bradford on Sunday were a niece and husband Mr. and Mrs. Owen (Marie) Payne of Orem and a married daughter and spouse of Provo. They attended funeral serAnvices for a brother-in-lathony Mldey held In Elko on Wednesday. Burial was in Willard. Martin Ross returned to the Veterans hospital in Salt Lake City on Monday. He enjoyed a stay with his family at their hom in West Corinne. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Moore on July 24 were George and Louise Anderson of Ogden. They enjoyed refreshments and an afternoon of conversation. Joining the group were Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Anderson and children. The George were planning a trip to California and told of places they had visited on previous trips. Following the luncheon, Tom for Hamilton Drug company, will talk on "Medicine and You" which will include the variance of drug costs along with information on drug abuse. All retired persons are invited to hear this informative program. Luncheon is served at 12 noon and reservations must be in by Thursday. 14, the Monday, Aug. program scheduled will feature Mrs. Lloyd (Lillian) Bunderson from Corinne who will present a travelogue on Norway, showing slides and artifacts from that country.
