Show BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, August 10, 1972 I w One pickup truck screached out, with rubber burning and the driver hanging on for dear life, to make the hairy turn just barely in front of a group of cars and trucks. For vehicles trying to make it straight across the intersection it was a daring move. the state highway crew First South and Main the changed semaphores to blinking lights Tuesday morning, it made quite a ditference in the flow of traffic. When There was more confusion than a barrel of grasshoppers. This writer took time out from his daily schedule and stood on the corner watching drivers confronted with the new situation. It's funny how a change can mess up the daily routine. One woman driver northbound on Main came to a complete stop for the amber lights. She waited there for about a minute, puzzled as to move or not. That didn't do too much for traffic safety as other cars on Main almost refused to stop for her. The intersection started to take on the appearance of a cartoon. Making a left turn from First South either, east to south or west to north really took tricky driving. It was like trying to get out of the . pit stop area during the Indianapolis 500. One motorcyclists waited there for a couple of minutes with his head going back and forth as if he were watching a tennis match. All this took place during a about 15 minutes in the morning ... imagine what happened late in the afternoon. Z took a chance and drove through the intersection during this time of the day. Headed south the Z mobile approached the area with some caution, slowing down for the amber lights. "Whew, made it." Another woman stopped in the other lane and traffic backed up. She didn't move until reached Second South, and there were a lot of heated drivers in back of her. . SIDE ORDERS I I By Erma like more women It seems Longs Your Well? By Harold G. A horizontal boring rig is used to drill a hole and install pipe into the mountain to tap impounded ground water. Providing stock water where desired at a price the rancher can afford to pay has always been a problem. With the introduction of horizontal wells, cattlemen have been able to obtain water on many ranges that was impossible a few years ago. The cost of these wells have been very reasonable. On the trip last week, we saw wells that had been operating for two years very successfully. We saw wells being drilled and sites where wells will be drilled. The average cost of these wells in that area was between six and seven hundred dollars, complete and operating. 723-269- 8. Thought I week selection is important.
