Born Jan. 2, 1898 in Fielding, he was a son of Thomas Frederick and Mary; Alice ' died Spackmart Coombs. He whs reared and educated in Fielding and graduated from Box Elder High school. On Feb. 23, 1922, he was married to Blanch Goddard in Salt Lake City. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple in 1965. He had lived in Garland since 1922 and owned and operated a dry farm in Fielding. He was federal crop inspection agent for Box Elder and Cache counties in Utah and Oneida county in Idaho for seven years. He was past president of the Garland Lions club and was Garland city councilman for 12 years. He served as financial clerk in the Garland Second LDS ward bishopric and was senior Aaronlc priesthood secretary. He was a stake usher for the Bear River stake tabernacle. Surviving are his widow of Garland, one son and one daughter, Gary D. Coombs, serving with the US Navy at Pearl Harbor; Mrs. Francis (Ivadene) Burns, Washington Terrace; three grandchildren, three one brothers and two sisters, Fred T. Coombs, Lester Coombs, Irvin Coombs, all of Fielding; Mrs. Glen (Alice) Ward, Riverside; Mrs. Milton (Nel) Fife, Salinas, Calif. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the Garland LDS ward chapel. Burial was in the Garland Cemetery. Civilian. The Brigham City youth committee announced Tuesday plans for an art and sculpture contest to obtain decorations for the youth center. A $5 prize will be awarded to the two best entries, a spokesman said. The youth committee is conducting the contest in order to get paintings and other art to decorate the youth center. All entries have to be in by Dec. and judging is on tap Dec. 3. Interested persons may bring their entries to the youth center from 7 to 10 p.m. Monday through Wednesday or from 4 to 11 p.m. Saturday. All articles should be tagged with name and address. The contest is open to persons between the ages of 14 to 24. Other committee members planning the community meeting include C.
