He called upon all civic leaders, educators and retailers throughout Utah to take part in the observance of Make It Yourself With Wool Week. She plans to become' a secretary. The. Navajo beauty is a combination of the best of her own and white mans cultures. She i, has owned her own horse, meaning Big Shot, since she was a little girl and is an expert rider. She also plays forward on her school basketball team, and makes a hobby of sewing her own clothes. An excellent cook of Navajo foods, she is well known for her preparation of Indian blue mush. And she remembers with pleas-ur- e the experience of being a Brownie Girl Scout. - Because she has retained the beautiful Navajo style of dress (no permanent waves in her long black, hair), and none of the Na-ton- . , 20-2- 2 white girls lipstick and powder. Miss Begay will compete in the traditional category of the beauty contest. All unmarried Navajo girls between the ages of 16 to 20, inclusive, have been invited to enter the beauty contest, provided she is listed on the tribal roles. This year the beauties will be judged in two divisions, traditional and modem, with prizes value at more than $150 for the . winners.
