Mary John Douglas Gunderson John Douglas Gunderson, 78, w of Brigham City, died Friday, Feb. 11, 1977 at the Mesa 'y Lutheran hospital in Mesa, Ariz., after an extended illness. He was born Jan. 18, 1899 at Mt. Plesant, to John Olaf and Rhea Brotherson Gunderson. He married Nora Walker on June 5, 1929 in the Salt Lake Temple. He graduated from North Sanpete High school, attended the University of Utah and graduated from Utah State university. His career was spent in the education. He was teacher and principal for 45 years in Box Elder county, serving at Thatcher, Plymouth, Garland and Central schools. He had served as vice president of the Utah Education association and for two years on its board of directors. He was one of three men instrumental in organizing the Elementary Principals association and served as its first vice president and later president. He served two terms as the first president of the Box Elder Principals association. Hutchinson, 47, of Brigham City and Kingman, Ariz., died Thursday, Feb. 10, 1977 in the Mohave General hospital in Kingman, Ariz., of complications following major surgery. She was born Aug. 17, 1928 at Carrollton, Ohio, the daughter of Oscar R. and Winoma Van Dyke Long. She was married to Edward P. Hutchinson on Oct. 30, 1950 in Cairo, Ohio. She spent her childhood in Ohio. She was a recent graduate of Ramada Inns Inc., management development center in Phoenix, Ariz. She was a member of the Catholic church. She is survived by her of husband of Brigham City and Kingman, Ariz., a daughter Mrs. Glenn (Christine) Ward of Willard; two grandchildren; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar R. Long of Carrollton, Ohio; two brothers and a sister, Paul A. Long, John W. Long and Katherine Long, all of Carrollton, Ohio. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in the Olsen Funeral home, 205 South First East, Brigham City, where friends may call Sunday 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to services. She was married to Lige Jensen on Sept. 23, 1909 in the Salt Lake Temple. He died in 1948. She married Lucius Hansen on June 11, 1954 and he died in 1957. She was an active member of the Brigham City Second ward for 65 years where she was an officer and worker in the Relief socity.
