Especially for old newspapers and ltxise trash, which should never be burned in an open fire. But before you use an incinerator there are a few important things you should check. Always make sure that leaves, grass or anything else that might catch fire, have been cleared for at least 10 feet around the incinerator. Then inspect your incinerator to make sure there are no cracks or holes. This way you'll be sure no sparks can escape Also, be sure that the screen or spark .SAFETY, arrester covering your incinerator is the recommended by your local fi re department. And that its in top shape, without tears or holes. ki nd PREPARE FIELDS BEFORE BURNING. People who live in cities aren't the only ones who burn debris. Often farmers and ranchers have to burn weeds or brush in their fields. And since open field burning can be dangerous, there are a few simple steps to follow. A1 ways check with your local fire forest or department ranger and lookout tower before burning. They can help you keep an eye on your fire if necessary. Never burn on a windy day, and before you burn be sure to plow a wide fireline around the field. WAm Always keep firefighting tools and water spray tanks handy since they can help you control flames that might otherwise get away. And never leave the fire, not even for a minute. Please. Follow these simple rules the next time you bum debris. That way youll be sure your property will be clean, well cared for and safe from fire. E! A CAPITOL meets at local home h 7 this country where open trash tires cannot be built. And there are 'V- -' other cities where there are special laws that must be followed.
