The traveling cultural exhibit is due to arrive in Brigham City on Monday. And beginning Tuesday, running for five days, it will be open for public in- spection. The train is six cars long and contains film and slide programs, historic artifacts, paintings, ceramics, sculptures and a wide variety of other art objects. One car features artists at work in the various media. It is scheduled here after stops in three other Utah cities Price, Richfield and Provo. And its arrival signals the start of Artrain Week in Brigham City with a flood of activities and attractions slated throughout the week, April 23-2- An opening ceremony is planned Tuesday at 5 p.m. which will feature the appearance of Mrs. Calvin Rampton, wife of the governor; Mayor Ole Zundel, Artrain Week Chairman George R Uibel and other dignitaries. Public Invited The public is invited. The Artrain will be located on a Union Pacific railroad siding just south of Big J. Mill on West Forest street. From. Tuesday through Friday, the Artrain will be open to school groups from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The public is invited to go through the traveling exhibit these same days from 6 to 9 p.m. It will be open for public viewing Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. It is free. Each tour lasts from 40 to 45 minutes. From 20 to 25 persons can begin a tour of the Artrain every 10 minutes. Guides will be from. Brigham City. For additional information, interested persons are invited to call about Artrain or any of the Artrain Week 9 art esdhibifi here Tuesday V Other Activities Other activities will take place in the Union Pacific railroad depot, the community center, along West Forest street, and at various other locations around town. City trucks and bulldozers have cleaned up the Union Pacific siding area. Some 20 boys from the local Leland Stanford DeMolay chapter assisted with the cleanup. The use of property in the area, owned by Big J mills, Farrell Jensen, and Don Powers, has been donated by the owners. A Busy Schedule busy schedule of local activities are planned by activities director Margo Flint. Chairmen of the individual activities include Thelma Somerville, craft depot; Wayne Johnson, variety show; Lynn Hone, street exhibit of paintings; Cathy Coffman, drama productions; Lanell Fotte, community art show; Jack Allen, kite design and flying contest; Shirly Kilminster, Girl Scout display; Della Armstrong, bazaar; Norm Thompson, window displays; Ron Frandsen, heritage tour; Dal Stiver, clowns; and Fontelle Messervy, puppets. The Artrain committee is being assisted by the museum gallery board of Lewis Wight, Owen, Kaydene Phyllis Ellen Siggard, McIntosh, Delone Glover, Lloyd Gunther, Mary Steed, and Richard Felt. Created by the Michigan Council for the Arts, the traveling art exhibit is also supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Federation of Rocky Mountain States, Inc., and the Utah State Institute of Fine Arts.
