Aide Ellas Tips The director of the Box Elder Mosquito and Fly Abatement district, Karl Josephson, announced Wednesday 'that the district s annual spray campaign has begun. He said this activity will preclude taking individual calls for spraying service until after the entire county is completed, usually around Sept. 1. However, in the interim, Josephson offered some tips on controlling common insect pests around the yard. He advises using diazinon 50W to spray for earwigs, cockroaches, black widow spiders and other pests that hide in shrubs and around foundations during the day. Use about 1 tablespoon in a 24 or sprinkling can or pump sprayer. Fill with water. stir well with a stick to keep the powder moving and pour low in shrubs and on the house foun- dation. Use a hose sprayer and dieldrin insecticide. "After you have sprayed, inch in water the lawn (about a can). This will carry the spray down to the roots of the grass and kill the larvae in the sod. "This will not kill the moth on the wing or the pupae. For this reason the lawn should be sprayed again in 10 to 15 days, he said. For box elder bugs, use one to two teaspoons of dibrom to a gallon of water, he suggested. Tremonton Henrietta Sorensen Christensen. She was reared and educated in Ephraim. WRANGLER CAIP UN In Letter The Presidents words were contained in a letter to E. Roland Harriman, American National Red Cross chairman: On behalf of a grateful nation, I want to commend you and every Red Cross worker and volunteer for the manner in which you responded so quickly and fully to the tragic floods in Rapid City. The federal government has, of course, brought its resources to bear in reacting promptly to this disaster, but an especially heavy burden has been placed on the Red Cross. "In giving so generoulsy of itself, the Red Cross has exhausted its available disaster funds, and for this reason I understand you are launching a nationwide campaign to raise five million dollars. This will insure that the Red Cross can continue its humanitarian assistance to the victims of the floods as well as enable it to act in similar emergencies. I fully support this campaign, and I hope every will American respond generously to this urgent appeal, just as they have in the past. The toxic signs in this case are yellow palms and skin areas, loss of appetite and a general lowering of normal energy. But, only massive overdosages of this vitamin normally cause these conditions. The obvious 'cure' is to cut down on this vitamins intake. Vitamin A, of course, also has been used (under medical care) to treat acne.
