Show Over Last Year BOX Unemployment Cloims Increase in BC The number of continued claims for unemployment this week in the Brigham City area was three times as great as the number for the same period last year. This comment was made by Ken Godfrey, manager of the Brigham City Employment Security office after this weeks figures were completed Thursday. Godfrey said even though the picture is bleak, it isnt as bad as it looks. This past week there were 363 continued claims filed which compares to 326 last week and 134 for the same period a year ago. Box Elder county isn't in a financial bind because many of the layoffs were second incomes, said Godfrey. He gave as an example, a wife who takes a job in the apparel industry. The manager also expects an increase in claims from construction workers.
