Show 2 THE BOX ELDER NEWS, Brigham City, Utah Sunday, July 10, 1966 MWooo Letters to j j " the U.S.MAH Burton Poll Gives Box Elders Sentiments Utah residents are feeling the effects of higher living costs, think that the federal budget should be balanced, dont be. Ueve they get enough reliable Information about the govern, ments activities, feel Pres, ldent Johnson exerts too great an influence on Congress, and regard the Poverty War as un. successful or a best a slight success. These sentiments are ex. pressed by one.slded votes In the fourth annual legislative poll conducted by Rep. Laurence J. Burton (R.Utah). Less emphatic but still sub. stantlal margins were given In favor of permitting states to on apportion their legislatures factors other than population, and against the bombing pause In Vietnam. In a most reply, 87.8 percent of those respond, ing say they felt the cost of one-side- living rise either "very much" (64.5 percent) or "a little" (33.3 percent). More than 14,000 of the ques. tlonnalre cards mailed to re. sldents of Utahs First Con. gresslonal District by Rep. Bur. ton were returned and tallied, the Congressman noted. "I want to thank those who responded to the questionnaire. Each of the four years that I have conducted the poll I have received valuable Information on the opinions of my constlt. uents on Important Issues. It Is very helpful," Rep Burton said In announcing results. Box Elder of Residents County agreed In general with some of the vote of the First Congressional District on the Burton poll, but varied In others of their views. Native Man Likes Rio Grande Valley Effective July Chosen to Editor: We do thank you so much for the home paper we have received since coming into the mission field. We look forward to getting it each week to keep up with the happenings at home. The first three months of our mission we spent in the lovely Rio Grande valley of Texas. This is the garden spot of the country. The place where the best grapefruit we have ever eaten, is grown. The fruit and vegetables are grown in abundance. A beautiful valley so level one can hardly tell which way the irrigation water will run. We have now been transfered from that beautiful valley, to the San Angelo area. Here the ground has 'its ups, and downs. However, it is very beautiful here. Here they have more sheep and cattle, and not the abundance of farming. This is a city of about 70,000 people. Enough to keep us really busy but we enjoy our labors here. The people here are very friendly, ft seems like where ever we go one gets the same invitation. "You all come back. We do thank you for the paper. It keeps us in contaot with home. Our new address is Gen. 'Del., San Angelo. We send our best wishes too all, Thank you.
