Mr. Beecher will teach English and religion courses as well as help on other teaching assignments if needed. The school will open its doors 6n Feb. 1 with a faculty of twenty teachers. Members of the faculty have been selected from Utah, Idaho and California. , The men will also work on a under the missionary basis church Seminary schedule. The women and children will help as guides on the school campus and temple grounds. Mr. Beecher has been a teacher in the English department at the Box Elder high school. He Is a native of Brigham City, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ransom Beecher. He has been on the faculty at Box Elder for 14 years. Prior to that time he taught in Idaho. He is a graduate of USU in Logan; has been a member of the Fourth LDS Ward Bishopric for five years; has served In the Sunday School superintendency and is at present chairman of the Genealogical Committee of the ward. Farewell Testimonial Sunday The Beechers were the first to be called in for interview by the LDS church leaders, after a president had been chosen for the new college, more than two years ago. Because Mr. Beecher has been a missionary there previously and is acquainted with the country and the customs of the people there, he and his wife have been named chairmen of the voyage for the group of LDS families leaving at this time to make New Zealand their home for the next four years. BEAR RIVER CITY REPORTS Surprise Party Honors Retiring Members Of Bear River Town Board Friday Night By Mrs. Ernest Huggins The Relief Society Bazaar which was held Thursday evening was a huge success. A turkey dinner was served to the large crowd present and quilts, luncheon cloths; dish towels, and articles too numerous to mention were sold. There was a fish pond for the children. The program which consisted of thq following numbers, was presented, double trio consisting of Elrita Anderson, Mytrle Anderson, Dee John-seGertrude Iverson, Pearl and Wanda Johnsen accompanied by Janice Holmgren sang two numbers. Mrs. Elvira Christensens second and third grade furnished a number, Rama Glover did a pantomine, Michael Ramsdell favored with a vocal solo accompanying himself on the guitar, Annette Glover did a Spanish ballet, Preston, - Ilene and Rex Checketts favored with a vocal trio, Stewart Dickey sang two numbers, David Tros-et- h played two cornet solos accompanied by Wanda Johnsen. Mrs. Andrea Huggins was M.C. The Relief Society wishes to thank every one who helped to make the affair a success., A quartette from the Fifth ward in Brigham City sang two numbers which were greatly appreciated. Herbert B. Wolf, LCA president, said his firm has designed a renting plan whereby customers sign a lease for two, three or five years and pay at a fixed monthly rate.
