Everyone of them says theyll do alright in league play but only one of them actually comes right out and says theyll win the championship. From top to bottom this league is tough, Clearfield is Viewmont is yet the Falcons escaped with their lives last week on their home 0-- 2-- floor. The old cliche about any team can beat another on a given night certainly applies to this league. Yet the Falcons have the confidence to say theyll win it. IF YOU go around making statements like that, you better have some horses with talent on the club. The Falcons do. The leader, both on and off the floor, is Darren Parry. Small in stature but very big out on the court. He runs the club, the coach on the floor, the floor general and all those other things we journalists say about the playnjakers. He was a thorn in Viewmonts side all night. He scored 14 points despite giving up four or more inches to the Vikings tall people. RUSSELL Florence and Scott Wallace give the Falcons some height and scoring-punch up front. Both around 63 mark, both shoot very well. The impressive thing about these two is that they are deadly with their backs to the basket. Both have excellent turnaround jump shots. Gary Dixon and Rodger Vincent give the Falcons added power from the bench. These two are worth going early to catch the junior varsity games, both can sky. COACH REID has this team playing his style of ball. Patience on offense and aggressive on defense. True it takes a lot to make a statement like the Clearfield people did, but until they drop a game you have to be impressed with them.
