Be it hereby ordained by the Board of County Commissioners of Davis County, State of Utah, as follows: That certain Davis County Ordinance No 233, passed on the 19th day of January, 1972, is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 1. There is hereby created and established a fire department which shall be known as the Davis County Fire Department. Section 2. The officers of the Davis County Fire Department shall be a Chief, AssisBattalion tant Chiefs, Chiefs, Captains, Lieutenants, and such other officers as shall be designated and appointed from time to time. The compensation of the officers and members of the Fire Department shall be fixed by the Board of Davis County Commissioners. Section 3. of Davis County Commissioners shall appoint the Chief. The Chief may be removed by a majority vote of the Board of Davis County Commissioners. (b) The Assistant Chiefs shall be appointed by the Chief and approved by the Board of Davis County Commissioners. (c) The Battalion Chiefs shall be appointed by the Chief with first consideration being given to those holding the rank of Captains. Such qualifications as length of service, attitude and previous experience shall be considered when selection is made. Appointment shall be approved by the Board of Davis County Commissioners. Any member of the Fire Department may be removed by a majority vote of the officers of the Fire Department. TO(05 Eighteen members of the Clinic (Reserve) traveled to Blanding, Utah 5 during the week of Oct to provide medical screening services to elementary school age Navajo Indian children 508th TAC residing on the Navajo Reservation, as well as other children from the Blanding community. THE purpose of the Community Service Project was to provide physicals for school children who otherwise might reach an advanced adolescent age without ever having seen a nurse or doctor. This year marks the third annual trip to the area by responsibilities of the chief and shall have authority upon direction of the chief to command a squad or a group of men at any drill or fire. (b) In the absence of the chief and assistant chief, the senior captain present shall be in command at all drills and fires and have full powers and responsibilities of the chief. Each captain shall have authority to command a squad upon being authorized by his superior either assigned to him at drills or actual fire combat. Each captain shall be responsible for his assigned men including personal problems, drill and fire attendance, clothing, etc Section 6. Every person (a) Who shall drive a motor vehicle over a fire hose except upon specific orders from the fire chief or other officer charge where the hose is in in use, or (b) Who shall maliciously turn in or cause to be turned in a false fire alarm, or (c) Who shall at the burning of a building disobey the lawful orders of any public officer or fireman, or offer any resistance to or interference with the lawful ef forts of any fireman or com- pany of firemen to extinguish the same, or engages in any disorderly conduct calculated to prevent the fire from being extinguished, or who forbids, prevents or dissuades others from assisting to extinguish the same, Shall be guilty of a Class B Misdemeanor and shall be punishable by a fine of not to exceed $299 00 or imprisonment in the Davis County Jail not to exceed six months, or both. Section 7. It shall be the objective of this organization of the 700 TAS, Dobbins AFB, Ga., who are providing airlift support for the 400 mile trip. Awards earned include Freedoms Foundation-Vall- ey Forge, Utah National Guard Minute Man Award and Utahs Distinguished Youth Service Award. She and her husband, Andrew Grey Nokes, are the parents of one daughter and three sons. Elder Ellsworth Is Kaysville Speaker Many in this area will remember when Dr. George F. Snell and other physicians flew to Guatemala to help with those Injured in the terrible earthquake. SNELL was the physician that was asked to help Elder Randy Ellsworth of Rockford, Maryland who was so seriously injured when beam fell on him. a Elder Ellsworth was serving in on a LDS Mission Guatemala at the time. Dr. Snell accompanied him by plane to Panama where he was confined to a hospital, for treatment and afterwards returned to his home in DR. 50-to- n Maryland. ELDER Ellsworth was able to return to Guatemala in six months, although he wore a leg brace and completed his serve primarily the residents of South Davis County through the fire to department for the protection of life and property and the suppression of fires and to conduct a never ending effort to improve in these services. On Sunday, Oct. 9, Dr. and Mrs. Snell invited him to be their dinner guest along with his sister and brother-in-laMr. and Mrs. Jeff Flamm of Ogden. It was a marvelous reunion for Elder Ellsworth and Dr. Snell. All Randy could remember at the time he was injured so seriously, was that a doctor from Utah helped save his life. (e) The fire chief or his assistant or any fireman designated by him shall have the right to enter any building or premises within the jurisdiction of the fire department, except private dwellings, at all reasonable hours for the purpose of making inspections or investigations relative to fires, fire prevention, or safeguarding life and property against fire. (f) The fire chief shall carry out the provisions of any agreement entered into between the county and any city and town pursuant to authority of Utah State Statutes.
