Teams Qi OhIi Sclioal By DAVE WIGHAM The Utah High School Activities Association has come up with two proposals on next years realignment for the 4A schools. Hopefully when the principals vote for the alignment they will select the first proposal. THE FIRST proposal would divide all the 4A schools into three regions. In one region would be Skyview, Weber, Bonneville, Roy, Clearfield, Layton, Viewmont and Bountiful. In another region would be West, South, East, Highland, Skyline, Cottonwood, Olympus and Granite. The third region would be Brighton, Hillcrest, Granger, Kearns, Bingham, Jordan and Orem. THIS IS the alignment that hopefully will become a reality next year. The second proposal would divide the schools into four regions for athletic competition. Under this proposal the first region would be: Skyview, Weber, Bonneville, Roy, Clearfield and Layton. THE SECOND region would consist of West, South, Viewmont, Bountiful, East and Highland. The third region would be Skyline, Cottonwood, Olympus, Granite, Brighton and Hillcrest. The last region would be Granger, Kearns, Bingham, Jordan and Orem. To me it would be obvious that there is a natural rivalry between schools in the same county. Under proposal number two the Davis County school would be in two - different regions. Under the' first proposal they would all be in the same region. PROPOSAL HERES number three. In my first region would be Skyview, Weber, Bonneville and Roy. In the second region would be Clearfield, Layton, Bountiful and Viewmont. The third region would be West, South, East, Highland, Skyline and Olympics. Then in the fourth region I would place Cottonwood, Granite, Brighton and Hillcrest. My last region would consist of Granger, Kearns, Bingham, Jordan and Orem. UNDER MY proposal all would be happy. In a four team region a football schedule could be set up for a home and away game with each region member. In basketball a year end region tournament could be held at the school with the best record to determine state tournament berths. I would much rather see a four team region involving the Davis County Schools than I would with two six school regions which split up these schools, dw Rock Canyon recently caught a striper weighing 2,270 grams.
