H Provo is again offering, at no cost, a course in occupational safety and health education to Utah businesses and industries desiring it, according to Dr. R(er H. Plothow, director of continuing education at Utah Tech. The 1976 Dart Marching Band under the field direction of Jeff Johnson with director Dana Rothlisberger, was the opening for the spectacular First Place Davis Cup Competition show. 3 LAST THURSDAY the Davis High Band, their flag corps and drum major marched away with many high honors at the Fourth Annual Davij Cup March and Show Band Festival at U of U Bice Stadium. This is the third consecutive year the Davis Band has obtained first place in this competition. : The bands show entitled Take Me Home began with ftie theme song, Take Me Home Country Roads, continuing with, Ring of Fire, and The Ballad of Jed Clampett, ending with a rendition of the famed singers greatest hits entitled, A John Denver Medley. The corresponding forma- j - tions were die Rocky Mountains, Pampetts oil wgftjhe rising sunshine, and tteword Far Out. gave his first command. Jeff brought home second place out of all the drum majors in the bands that night. This is a first in the bands history and an added asset to their tradition of excellence. During their show the band displayed dances, precise unity and excitement when drum major Jeff Johnson the flag corps under the direction of Chris Avery and Julie Jones. The flag group brought back first place in the ancillary group competition. THE JUDGES for the competition were Herbert Cecil, Weber State College; YOUR HELP is needed in acquiring these labels. The labels can be accepted until March 1977. These labels help the school to acquire such much needed things as visual aids, athletic equipment and reference books. MISS ROBINSON was chosen in scholastic competition among 55,000 black students nationally. Only were 1,500 chosen; two were from Utah. Miss Robinson is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl D. READING and preparation for debate topics are two of Vickies many interests. She has also applied to become a congressional page. She plans to enter college and work for a law degree.
