Leslie is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Opp of 463 W. 1150 N. in Sunset. He was trained in security and law enforcement and is assigned to Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas. Susan Frazier, seven week old daughter of Robert G. and Sandra Burnett Frazier of West Point, who died on Jan. 10 in the McKay-De- e Hospital . would know exactly what the Americans intended to do: they intended to break away from England and establish a new nation. The spirit that brought this new nation to life will be enthusiastically portrayed in the Layton High School Bicentennial production Spirit of 76 under the direction of Ronald Petersen. THE PLAY, which was researched, written, and is performed by Layton High School students, includes use of the latest techniques in combining live action with an effective backdrop of 35mm from portraits Americas history. Segments of the production depict scenes from the Revolutionary War period, the Civil War, the 1920s, the depression years and from the 1940s and 50s. ALSO included are scenes from the present and a provocative consideration of what the future may hold for' our nation. Vaun Barber, principal at Layton High, has announced that Layton residents are invited to share the Spirit of 76 free of charge in a special community performance beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30 at the Layton High School auditorium. exhibit of local art which will be on display in the foyer of the auditorium from 3:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. the same day. The art exhibit will feature Davis County artists who represent a wide range of talent and experience. INCLUDED will be works of George Dibble, LeConte Stewart, Ed Maryon and LeeAnn Miller as well as a number of other highly talented local artists. The art exhibit is being coordinated by Mrs. Carol Morgan, Layton High School PTA President and Mrs. Beth Cornia, Layton High School art department chairwoman. basketball team. They recently went to Arizona on a basketball tour. Dr. and Mrs. Odell B. Cutler spent a few days in Denver recently. The Hendersons of Wilmington, North Carolina have been visiting with their daughter, son-in-la- w and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hill and with their son Steve in Provo. Mr. Henderson visited in the area for a week and had to return home to work. Mrs. Henderson visited for about three weeks before returning to North Carolina. Rick Ryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Ryan reported on his mission in Canada. He returned recently after spending two years serving his church. Sunset Camp of the DUP met recently at the home of Beth Ward for the January meeting. Pearl Dabel was cohostess. Captain Verda Knight gave a history of a grandmother, Susan F. Mumford, an English immigrant. The les June son was given by Florence Wallace has gone area to be with her husband's brother's family, the Ervin Wallaces while he has open heart surgery at the Standford Medical Center which was performed last Monday. Ervin is the son of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Wallace and a brother of A.J. Wallace to the Bay Schaelling. Present were Verda Knight, Elda Sparks, Beth Ward, Erlene Eddington, Sylvia Smith, Pearl Dabel, Margaret Willis, lone Ferrin, June Schaelling, Martina Blaine, Iona Kelly, Wanda Nielsen, Harriet Daines, Melba Smith and Raxie Bronson. Danny Green, son of Mr. and Mrs. Car l Green, who has been in the McKay Hospital in Ogden for several weeks, undergoing testing is now recuperating at his home. Danny, who was serving an LDS mission in Japan contacted an illness which required that he come home. Navy Aviation Fire Control Technician 2nd Class James Bodily, son of Mr. and Mrs. DeanH. Bodily of 345 W. 1115 N., Sunset, visited the United Kingdom while serving aboard the aircraft carrier of Sunset. is Watkins LuRue recuperating at home after undergoing open heart sur- gery at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City for the third time. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Esplin and daughters Jennefer and Penny of Richmond were Sunday evening visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome R. Willden. Mr. Esplin and Mrs. Willden are brother and sister. Mr. and Mrs. George Dickson Jr. and son of Ogden were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Dickson. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Baker and children of Roy were visitors on Sunday at the home of Mrs. Vem Young and family. Mrs. Baker is the former Diane Young. Mr. and Mrs. Terry Martin of Ogden spent Sunday visiting with Mrs. Martins parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Eastman. USS Independence. His wife Janice and baby daughter are making their home in California while he is in the service. The Belle Aimes Club met recently at the home of Erma Bingham. Present were Doris Burns, Laura Call, Harriet Daines, Margaret Egbert, Verda Knight, Virginia Lovell, Donna Perry, Mildred Porter and Marie Stone. FREEDOM WEEK slide following surgery was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Burnett. Marlin Hill is now a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. The choir sings eac!i Sunday morning in their weekly broadcast. A person must audition before they can be considered for acceptance into the worldwide known singing group. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jenkins and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hansen enjoyed dinner out recently in honor of the wedd:ng anniversary of the Jenkins and Mrs. Hansens birthday. Sandra Hill was recently released as the Sunset Stake leader. Primary Sustained to this position was Debbie Robbins. Gary Schroader was sustained to serve in the stake Special Interest and Ray Madsen was sustained as sts' librarian. Debbie Wood, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mel Wood is presently playing with the Weber State College ladies Do Not Disturb Loan. MR. BARBER states that tickets are not necessary for either the art exhibit or the play production. The intent of this activity is'; to provide Layton residents with an opportunity to participate in our nation's Bicentennial commemoration.
