Lu-ze- Six documenta two Layton resolutions, a notice, a petition, a consolidation agreement and a certification were passed by the Layton city council Monday nignt initiating action to consolidate Lay-to- n City and Laytona Town. The consolidation agree m a n t which will be entered into by the two communities will be an agreement by each to accept the assets and liabilities of the other. The notice is of the public hearing which will be held sometime this month in the Layton city hall for residents of both Layton City and Lay-tnTown, and the election to determine whether or not the two shall consolidate which will be held in September. The petition is to the Davis County Commission stating that the two communities desire to consolidate under the name of Laytoa City corporation and asking permission to do so from the commissioners. Resol utiona One of the resolutions passed authorized the mayor and council-me- n to take all necessary action in bringing the question to the qualified voters and the other is the approval of the council to consolidate. The certification Is to verify the population of Layton (0,000 persons) for purposes of setting up the election. Laytona will also pass on the same six documents. The next step will be the public meeting at which the proposal will be explained and residents riven a chance to voice their opinions. A majority of the qualified voters in each community must approve the consolidation plan before it can take place. The consolidation, if successfully passed, will approximately double the size of both communities tn area.
