Show frJ P?ge The REFLEX' 1 1 Dec. 13, 1956 Farmington Lions, City Council Map Park Improvement Plans Farmington Lions club officials and city councilmen fmet together last Wednesday evening to map a program of improvement for the Farmington City- - Park. Rep- resenting the Farmington Lions Club at the meeting were M. P. I.omird, president, Dean Swanner and Robert Griffith. Together the city and Lions will make the following improvements the coming year: Prepare the ground for lawn planting by leveling and disking; lay water pipe for a baseball field sprinkling system; planting the lawn; fence off the north entrance to permit grass to grow and add a new parking area on the east side of the park. Joint Financing The project will be financed by the city and Lions. Farmington City would spend $7M plus thatj which left over in their 19311 bud-oget. The Lions will turn over to the city treasurer $(iiK to be added to the city funds. The following list of additional improvements was submitted for the future: park lighting, planting of trees and shrubbery, an asphalt area with basketball standards, ley ball standards and lights; a bowery shelter and horseshoe courts. Improving the park has been a major project of the Farmington Lions Club for many years. Proceeds from Friendly Fiesta Days held each year go to. beautify the park. M. Northrop in South Farmington to put out a car fire. Mrs. Northrop and her daughter and two sons had just returned from Salt Lake City when they noticed the wheel on their 1030 model automobile had caught fire. Prompt action on the part of the fire department kept the fire from spreading to the gasoline tank.
