Not only do closets take care1 of a lot of items for protective purposes, but also to get items out of ooms and thus prevent clutter. Closets, like rooms, should be planned vith as much care as a bedroom, kitchen or living room, if they are to give their best service. Before you decide to tear down a wall to get more closet space, check to see if youre using what closet space you already have as efficiently as possible. Many aids have been Introduced to closets to make them more practical, and these may well solve the all clothing in a small closet since everything will suffer. There are several ways of storing clothing, and the method you use depends upon your space elsewhere in the home. Its best when hung in specially protective moth-proo- f bags, but this is not always possible. You may have room only for flat boxes. Perhaps you have a chest. Youll get more room out oi each of these if the clothing is neatly cleaned, laundered, and presred, then folded to take as little room as possible. Clean clothing invites no moths, so prepare the clothing carefully for storage with whatever cleaning process is necessary. Moth-proo- f bags and chests are of no use if the clothing is not clean before storage. If you have cardboard boxes that are not dust-proowrap the clothin tissue dark paper, dark blue ing or black muslin cloth, or store in plastic covers such as are made for keeping pillows and blankets. It may need airing before use, but the clothing will be clean and pressed, ready for service. When several boxes are used, label the boxes as to contents. If you should have to extract something before the season is at hand, you wont have to plow through everything stored. Budget the items you want stored in a certain closet, then lafy out a plan as to where each should be. Then youll be well on the way toward getting the most space and use from the storage space. A sense of duty, with all that it implies, to parents, to husband and home and children, to reading and speech and to the smallest action, is a great tonieIt makes life worth while to be always holding joneself up to higher levels of service and of perfection.
