DOUBLED The East Carbon Junior High School Band will give a concert this Tuesday evening at 8 00 p. m. in the school auditorium under the direction of Harold Hanson. A delightful group of band selections are in store for the pub- lie. The band will appear in public for the first time in the new band uniforms. A school chorus will be presented the same evening which will consist of most of the seventh grade. The public is urged to attend this promising concert and a cordial invitation is extended to the public to attend. The band was all set to play last Wednesday but a conflicting schedule necessitated achange in date. Evidence of the rapid growth of this Edst Carbon city became apparent this week with the announcement that the Dragerton Post Office will be doubled in s. size, and tripled in accommoda-ton- Win Honors Top scholastic honors at the East Carbon Junior High School for this year went to Morris Nelson for the boys and to LaRae Ellet for the girls. These two students have maintained straight A records during their junior high years. Their names will be inscribed on the gold honor roll plaque. At the May 20 graduation, they will give the honor speeches Morns Nelson is the son of Mr and Mrs. Levi Nelson of Columbia. In addition to his scholastic activirecord his ties have been of top rank. He has baseball, basplayed first-strin- g ketball and football. Nelson received a gold medal for his outstanding work in the past round robin basketball tournament. In the band he is a very able saxophonist and in fact has chosen to- go to Logan to appear for a place in the state awards at the Agriultural College This is an honor for a junior high student to be chosen to compete. LaRae Ellet is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Freeman Ellet of Columbia. LaRae is a i. .ember of the Pep Club and ha taken a very active part, in all school activities Mr, Anderson is the student counselor and adviser to the 10th grade! He states that the competition for top honors was the keenest that the school has so far produced. This year has seen an outstanding afray of splendid talent. Over 15 students were in the running for the awards, with very little difference between them. In fact, this years 10th grade has been so outstanding that the teachers hate to see the class move extra-curricul- Rehearsals are being held daily for the fifth and sixth grade operetta that will be presented by the Dragerton Elementary on May 11 This operetta is under the direction of Mrs. Hanley, Mrs. Moyer and Miss Poglajen.
