Wakeley religion, except for her husbands unwavering faith that God would spare the mother of his five children, except for the faith and help of the couples neighbors and friends in their L.D.S. church ward... Sherleen Jaussi had not really wanted to learn to fly, but her husband, Jim, wanted her to become a skilled pilot so that the two might fly together. He taught her how to fly how to understand the plane, and how to think in an emergency. Sherleens solo flight, necessary to obtain her pilots license, called course: for her to fly a three-legge- d to Grand Junction, Colorado; onto Blanding, Utah, and then hack to Price. Three solo landings were required for a license, and one of the legs of the flight must be at least 100 miles in length before a landing. West and Will Matchinsky, report that SOLO will be held over only in answer to public demand. Residents of the St. George, Utah area were used as extras in the movie, which was filmed near St. George in the wilderness areas. The film was made from a book (same title) about Jaussis harrowing experience written by Patricia O Brien King. It is a Deseret Book Company publication. -- SOLO Movie reviewers often must reach for a way to catch the ittention of theater-goer- s when a certain film is scheduled to appear. In the case of SOLO this reviewer might ask one simple question--Whwere you doing on June 28, at 1981? One woman from Price, Utah might recall that day very well, because that was the day she was rescued from an unexpected ordeal--a- n airplane crash which left her injured and alone on a mountain side air time from Grand Junction, Colorado. Many other Americans might recall the day, because a national newscaster stood in the small clearing where Sherleen Jaussi spent five days of her life, and told her story from almost the exact spot where the young wife and mother expected to spend the rest of her life. Except--- ! , v Except for her surmounting faith in her Mormon upbringing and Sherleen began the flight with trepidation, because she really did that it not enjoy flying alone-exc- ept must be done this once, at least. Jim Jaussi and Craig Hume, her instructor, had drilled her well on how to fly the plane if trouble it all the way down, arose-Fl- y told her. Stay in control-a- nd they walk can away from it... you SOLO is the exciting, inspiring story of one woman, one man, five children and a town and how their faith in God helped them deal with near-traged- y.
