Clinic, The possibility of reopenig the county clinic was discussed in the regular monthly meeting of the county commission last Wednesday, December 4. The commissioners feel that a definate need exists in the county for medical care, and that putting county money into a medical clinic would be a wise investment. Dr. Bailey from the Bear River . Health Department told the commissioners that he supported the idea of a county clinic, adding that under the right conditions the possibility exists of combining the Bear River Health Services with some type of ; bounty clinic service. . Bailey also said there is a possibility of working with the University of Utah Medical School. If a concrete plan exists for medical services in the county, a strong potential exists of a graduate from the school coming into Rich County to sfet up a practice. 'The commissioners agreed to appoint members from the county to a medical board or council to explore the different avenues of possible medical care in the county and to eventually oversee a process. clinic-typ- e Also, since a need exists in the county for an EMS (emergency medical service) council to oversee such areas as EMT training, dispatching, equipment public education, and ambulance, that medical council, previously mentioned, could include as part of its duties the up-date- s, advising of emergency medical services. Dr. Bailey also expressed appreciation for the assistance of Commissioner Cook on the Bear River Board of Health. He asked the commission to appoint a new board member. The county T.V. system was also reviewed at length. The Crawford system has proven to be a good T.V. system. In addition, a new building has been completed on Laketown Summit to house sensitive equipment. However, at the present time two problems exist with the Crawford T.V. system. One antenna needs to be moved a few feet to provide better reception for some of the channels. There are also small areas in the county that are not receiving the T.V. signal because of their location. Eventually, some additional possibly from the old Woodruff system, will be installed on Laketown summit. Thus, the T.V. iifet signal will be beamed back to areas, including the ranch Crawford Mountain. near houses With other expected adjustments, the entire county will be able to receive the T.V. signal. A T.V. billing system of $3.00 a month per family was discussed. It is felt that this type of system will be more fair than establishing a tax district, since large property owners will not have to carry the majority of the T.V. expense. If this proposal passes, everyone in the county will receive a bill. Owners of rental property will be encouraged to collect the T.V. money in low-recepti- their rental payments. Adjustments will also be made for those not able to receive the signal. Mike Madsen told the commission that he has taken care of the majority of the snow removal from the county road leading to his home near Swan Creek for a number of years. There is an average of five to six families who use the road to get to the main highway. Since access to the road is difficult for the county, the commission agreed to pay him for his services. Sheriff Gary Ogilvie presented the Rich County Jail Report to the Commission. The report included improvements made to the jail and equipment this year. The report also assessed the future needs of the jail and department. Sheriff Ogilvie asked that a citizens committee be formed to monitor future needs and offer suggestions for the Rich County Sheriff Department. |
