Show The Tooele Transcript, Friday, June 6, 19C9 FINANCIAL STATEMENT University Workshop To Focus on Powell Centennial Tooele County, Utah Year Utah ami the West, a workshop held annually at the University of Utah, will focus June 0 on John Wesley Powell who 1(X) years ago mapped and studied the last uncharted region in the. continental United States the canyons of the Creen and Colorado Rivers. THE WORKSHOP also includes two days of research devoted to study of early Utah railroads June 3 and features field trip to Promona one-da- y tory Summit, Utah, scene of the recent centennial celebration of the joining of the iron of the East with gold of the West. ' According to Dr. David E. Miller, director of the University of Utahs Western History Center, students may enroll for one-haof the course or the entire y which includes a field trip to Powell Country in southern Utah and northk ern Arizona. He said the course is scheduled as History 188, and can be registered for either two or four credit I The following is a true and correct report of the financial standing of Tooele County at the close of the year 1968. Participants must pay for their meals two-wee- and incidentals during the field trip, the program states. During the first session, June 9, Gov. Rampton will present a speech entitled The Centennial Year. Sen. Moss will speak at the same session on The Long Shadow of John Wesley Powell. At the seventh session scheduled for June 11, Congressman Burton will speak to participants during the official workshop banquet on John Wesley Powell Man of Vision, Man of Action. Sacre on convalescent leave at his home in Tooele, receives the Purple Heart from Colonel Beverly F. ONeal, Jr., Commanding Officer, during an official ceremony in the Colonels office. Sacre was wounded on his left arm, side and leg, while his helicopter was attempting to rescue men downed in another one in Y'ietnam. This is the second purple heart Sacre has received.
