Show The Record AFGE of Comparison represenMiosi (official CSC figures Nov, 1967) is AFGE exclusive employees represented 33,297 155 19 a national staff of 168 professionally trained specialists to represent you on grievances, adverse actions, etc. AFGE beats IAM hands down in representing Federal workers 70 326,432 Army exclusives AFGE has and on every score 783 units coonltiry JJ AFGE has 8 lawyers just at the Washington level, and more in the field, for legal assistance (at no extra cost to the AFGE has education, publicity, Mere is the sad story of lAMs conflict of interest Army employees represented 79,516 8,732 contracts in government 416 46 201,555 24,040 contracts in 71 Army employees covered by Army contracts 40,585 14 6,916 Why contracting out strike fund duos employees covered by contracts are dues double IAM AFGE? Because lAMs overwhelming majority of private industry members have saddled its few Federal employee members with national dues that lean be of no direct benefit to yob. For example: i per cent of the national IAM dues must go into a 16 strike fund. $2.50 dues $5.50 6 per cent of the national IAM and never forget is Federal AFGE 100 employee dues must go into a fund that pays death benefits only for members who joined before 1960. Thus 22 per cent of the na- tional IAM dues must go for expenses of no direct benefit to Federal employees. And this is set by the IAM na- tional convention controlled by the overwhelming private industry membership. Contracting out is the plague of Federal workers. Yet IAM locals in private industry hold these agreements doing the work that should properly be done by Federal employees. IAM local 610 has an agreement with General Dynamics,. IAM local 1 323 has an agree ment with Lockheed. IAM local 2061 has an agree ment with Boeing. It should surprise no one, then, that the national president, of the IAM has not testified opposing the evil of contracting out work. It should surprise no one that IAM did nothing when 600 civil service employees were threatened last month with RIF notices while contractor personnel were doing the same jobs. (It was AFGE action in the Federal courts that save these jobs for Federal workers.) The examples prove again the IAM conflict of interest spells sad news for Federal workers. fljflfflBl March 18 -Monday - 7:30 p.m. O O O Tooele American Federation of Government Employees, 0 f nt AFGE has a contract-negotiatin- g department staffed with the best experts in the Federal field to assist in bargaining with management. f AFGE has a legislative departe ment with 3 registered lobbyists to bring home the legislative benefits to Federal full-tim- employees. ?ele Army iepof wage hoard workers on March 20 the mass meeting all TAD workers invited!
