Show Page 5 vThf May 12. 2004 Julia Banks receives Silver Bowl Award One outstanding volunteer from each county in Utah was recognized with an engraved Silver Bowl, which was donated by O.C. Tanner Co., at the 25th annual Silver Bowl Awards. The luncheon ceremony w as held on April 22. 2001 at the Provo Marriott Hotel. The Silver Bowl Recipient for Juab County was Julia Banks. Bob Evans of Fox 13 News was the Master of Ceremonies, and Lieutenant Governor Gayle McKeachnie presented the aw ards to the recipients. RSVP Volunteer, Julia Banks, is 77 years young. She is president of the Nebo Sentinel Chorale Singers, board member of the East Juab Senior Center for the past 10 years, here she currently arranges the program for each meeting. Julia has served on the Six County Legislative Committee for several years, where her assignment is to keep seniors informed of bills being considered by the state legislature, and how proposed changes may affect the seniors. Julia continually does outreach and networking for seniors in her community, and is ever alert for any information that pertains to them. Julia is licensed Clinical Social Worker and does counseling from time to time. w pro-bon- o She is well-educate- caring, compassionate, and a good advocate fur her community. Her service is much appreciated in her community. Every year the Utah Commission on Volunteers and the Utah Volunteer Center Association recognize the efforts of hundreds of volunteers across the state for their contributions to their communities. The Utah Commission on Volunteers was established in February 199 to improve and increase in Utah. The Utah Volunteer Centers Associa1 tion collaborates with the Utah Commission on Volunteers to coordinate voluntary sendee throughout the state. Volunteer Centers connect volunteers with service opportunities within their ow n communities. The Volunteer Connection is only allowed to report service on those volunteers who register and give their permission to include the service they provide in their community as we "Tell the Story of the accomplishments that come about in individual communities because of selfless volunteers. Magazine Senior Con- sultant Steven S. Little will keynote Senator Bob Bennett's Third Annual Rural Business Conference, to be hold in the Sevier Valley Center in Richfield on Mav 25. 200 4, The conference, hosted by Bennett and the Utah Rural Development Council, offers advice to rural entrepreneurs on acquiring new customers, increasing productivity, and growing a small business in a rural location. The engine of economic growth in rural Utah will continue, to be local companies, with local workers, utilizing the latest technologies to grow their businesses from w ithin, said Bennett. I hope this conference can help encourage and stimulate that growth. Mr. Little is a popular expert on the subject of business growth and the future of opportunity.
