Here are a few tips to help launch a healthier diet even on busy school and camp days: d Share books, movies, songs or stories with your child, such as James and the Giant Peach," Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs," or Bananas in Pajamas." Make sundaes using yogurt instead of ice cream and top with granola, raisins or fruit. Make funny designs and shapes out of vegetables, such as squash spirals and carrot curls. Create a variety of shapes and designs out of sandwiches with large cookie cutters. Serve food on brightly decorated plates and utensils (featuring your child's favorite television or book characters). Instead of yogurt, use vanilla yogurt and top with fruit. Let your child help prepare what will be served and present" the meal at the family table. How to get kids ready for the new school year For kids, the end of long, carefree summer days signals the return to school. While facing a new school year can be exciting for children, it can also generate feelings of fear and anxiety.
