Nov. 1, there was a case of criminal mischief. The area had several newspaper machines broken into, said Bowles. The thieves took the change from the machines. This is not a common occurrence here, though it has happened before. Bowles said it is common in larger cities for the newspaper machines to be broken into on a regular basis. He said his officers will be keeping a closer watch on the machines. Nov. 1, another case of crimi- nal mischief occurred, said Bowles. Several mail boxes in the northeast section of the community were vandalized. It looked like someone had smashed the boxes with a baseball bat, he said. It is likely the incidents will continue. We would like our citizens who hear a noise like this must have made, to call the police department. We will have an officers respond to the area and, perhaps, we will be able to catch the vandals in the act. Nov. 2, a northeast business reported a suspicious person, said Bowles. A transient was reported by the business owners to have wandered about the business for some time. When he left, officers stopped him.
